What protocol is used in the Proton VPN extension?

I just tried adding Proton VPN, and I didn’t find an option in settings to select a protocol. What protocol is used by default?

It’s HTTPS (we’re using the proxy settings of the browser).

And actually works, despite openvpn being blocked in my country. However there is a problem, just after starting the browser, the server list won’t load. Would be nice to have server list cache, so it won’t need to load after browser restart, so it would be possible to connect
