Hi what the best vpn to use on Ubuntu previously when I used mint I used proton vpn which I really liked but it not available on Ubuntu so can anyone suggest a alternative thanks
Mint is based on Ubuntu. That means you can use the same app.
use whatever vpn provider your favorite influencer has a rebate code for. Proton vpn afair has a good track record with strictly no logs and not bending over for subpoenas, and they also have a free plan. But always remember you are the product if something is offered for free.
also do not be afraid of punctuation marks.
Nord layer has Linux version. Works well
Mullvad. It has a native GUI and is only €5
remember to disable ipv6. not sure if those big ones work for it, but i use a smaller company and it only works with ipv4.
I have express VPN. There is no GUI but the command line is surprisingly easy to use. Apparently you can connect it to the GUI in a Firefox extension but I haven’t been able to make it work.
Host your own openvpn on aws
I’m using PIA VPN on Ubuntu 23.04 and 23.10, usually very cheap on 2+ year plan.
Works great.
At work we use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. No issues so far.
I use proton on Ubuntu 22.04. Works just fine.
I have been using windscribe for 4 years. Flawless.
I am using protonvpn on Ubuntu 22.04. You can search YouTube to find a tutorial for installing protonvpn on Ubuntu.
Ok I looked in the snap store and i could find it so I assumed it wasn’t compatible with Ubuntu
Cool I’ll give it a shot
