There is no such thing as a ‘good free VPN’ really imho. Other than ProtonVPN anyway but that doesnt allow torrenting on its free tier.
If the file size of what you want to download isnt too large (data use concern-wise), You could always disable WiFi on your mobile device and use your sim card data to download the file to your mobile device, Then transfer it to your PC from there.
Most people dont tend to realise that you dont need to use a VPN for your mobile device via SIM/network data if your concern is privacy related. (If you use your mobile device via WiFi, then 100% a VPN also).
