Work phone has enforced VPN on it. Can I still use Tailscale?

stop  using  your :clap:work :clap:phone:clap: for :clap:personal:clap: business

Anything is possible if you are willing to risk your job. You can root the device which will wipe it and then you can talk your company into seting it back up and hope they don’t realize, they probably will, and then you get to work on explaining why you didn’t use a personal device and broke their acceptable use policy.

I’m pretty sure you will need root and some special access to create multiple VPN interfaces since I think the user level can only create one VPN interface at a time. At least I’ve only been able to connect one at a time.

It took me a while to find of figure out tailscale. I use a private DNS and tailscale would complain about that on Android. That’s when I dove deeper and realized the full potential of tailscale. I personally use it to control my arr* setups as well as remote desktop. That’s when it clicked that it has to use the VPN slot on my phone.

News flash: if they are using Zscaler and most any MDM client, you have no privacy.

Stop using your work phone for private matters.

Meant running. I corrected my original comment

Yeah, depends on the company for sure.

I am able to stream Netflix etc through VPN by getting a home IP through my provider. Also, I run Tailscale so I can easily set the exit node to be from the home server. Though it does slow things down based on where one is flying.

Yeah I’m starting to dislike using this app for information these days. I guess the Reddit stigma’s are true. People here have hive a mind. Like bro, just answer the damn question and move on. Stop with your personal opinions.

My bad I’ll make sure I read every comment from here on out before posting, you’re so right.
