World champs not on GCN+

I’m in Canada. Was pissed that the UCI took the broadcast rights away from redbull and we lost the iconic Rob Warner commentary but I sucked it up and subscribed to GCN just to be able to watch the world Cup races. I woke up today excited to put on the world champs race only to discover that they want you to pay an additional $30 to subscribe to flosports to watch world champs. WTF is the UCI doing. I shouldn’t have to subscribe to multiple streaming services to watch the races, and $30 a month is absolutely ridiculous when I literally just want to watch this one race. I miss redbull. Rant over

Use a VPN to watch it on GCN+ if you are in north america. I am currently watching it from Canada while connected through a european server.

It’s just absolutely ridiculous that a mountain bike fan is expected to pay like $20 a month to GCN and $30/month to flobikes to watch essentially what, 11 races total?

The thinking that a “biking fan” is a fan of all bike disciplines seems incredibly off the mark with regards to MTB.

With other adventure sports seemed like the right fit with red bull.

Its live on BBC 1 I’m the UK, I’m sure you can find a stream

good thing I paid $60 a fucking year for this shit. shouldn’t need a vpn to watch what you paid for. this is harmful to the sport.

UCI same as FIFA, corrupt European gangsters.

First year I won’t be watching . Sad how they butchered it.

Hope it didn’t affect the riders too much . Viewer ship has to be at all time lows.

Always good when you have the substitute cyclocross announcer covering a downhil MTB race.

I’ve completely checked out of mtb racing because of this. Sucks because I loved it.

I’m sitting here thinking the same god damned thing following live timing on PB

First World Champs and/or World Cup race I haven’t watched live in many many years

Here in the UK it’s on free to air BBC and on Discovery/Eurosport. Still would rather it was on Red Bull with Warner though

I don’t think it used to be broadcast on redbull tv either though? At least not in my country. As far as I know they sell the rights differently as more local broadcasters are interested in it than the normal races.

UCI had it streaming for free on YouTube

Se had a similar issue in Australia with the premier league. The rights got sold to Optus (which is a telco) so everyone including my 70 year old father had to use an app that was basically at alpha stage, wouldn’t work most of the time, couldn’t be streamed to a TV and had to be watched on mobile devices only. Terrible move.

Thanks for the tip. Didn’t even think to use a VPN. Working like a charm. I stand by my thoughts on the UCI though. Redbull had a great thing going. Such a bonehead move to take the rights away.

Double pro tip : use opera gx browser and their free VPN

Watched the tour de france this way

GCN is $9/month. But I feel your frustration

How absolutely god awful is the British commentator? Clearly has no clue whatsoever. Painful to listen to.

The South African guy is fantastic in comparison.

I agree. They are killing the sport. If you want to grow the sport you don’t put it behind a massive pay wall. No one but the diehards are gonna pay that much to watch. Especially with the garbage commentary.

They don’t care about the sport, they care about their revenue
