Atlas VPN Create additional Network adapter which prevent local network?

I have been using Atlas VPN for a while (a Free version one) just to browse some blocked site in my country like reddit here for example and has no problem so far.

But recently after updating to the latest Atlas VPN and try to turn on the VPN is also create another network adapter which I can clearly see in my control panel, and the real problem is actually I can’t access my local network at all if this turned on. I can’t access my CCTV or other local PC on my network.

Is there any workaround for this?

If not, is there any other alternative VPN? I’m not always use VPN on my PC but there is a lot of important sites for my work, and for some reason blocked in my country, smh

You need your vpn service application to have the ability to pass LAN traffic.
From my experience, this is definitely in Mullvad, Windscribe applications.

I found the workaround, you need to go to Settings → Advanced Settings → Protocol → Change to IPSec/Ikev2

and now I can access my local network again

Is this system new to VPN or something? I actually have tried other VPN including premium one like ExpressVPN but this is the first time that the app makes my PC can’t connect to the Local Network, and it even after I updated the Atlas VPN

The underlying problem is caused by either:

  1. Firewall they activate upon connection

  2. The network routing is overwritten to ALWAYS use the VPN. Then your LAN traffic tries to go to VPN and meets a dead end there.

This feature must be supported by your VPN provider’s app. If this information is not available on the site, check this issue with technical support.
Another useful feature is split tunneling. This is when you can choose which apps will use the vpn.
And of course, if you are here, there must be port forwarding (for good torrents speed).

Man that sucks, I mean what’s the point hiding you IP for local network, they really need to change this soon

I see, well maybe it does not turned on by default in other VPN, but then again, I like this feature to be always turned off as I want to always be able to check my CCTV. but thank for the info man

Some local networks are not your friends (wifi hotspots). Nah post 2013 none of the networks are your friends.

I do agree some wifi is dangerous, but the only wifi I use is the wifi from my mobile phone SIM card, and if I can’t even trust that too then… well, maybe even my life is not my friend too

Technically Wi-Fi with WPA2 has more holes than your old socks.
