Azure VPN connection error: TLS handshake in progress

Hope someone might be able to assist.

We use the Azure VPN client and had to renew one of our certs. The new cert just does not want to connect, stating the following:

2024‎/‎01‎/‎12‎ ‎14‎:‎05‎:‎20: Dialing VPN connection Pastel-vnet, Status = Server did not respond properly to VPN Control Packets. Session State: TLS handshake in progress

We’ve tried to recreate the gateway and have re-created the cert as well. Comparing it to the old cert and other similar cert, nothing seems to be out of place.

System time etc. is also correct. If anyone has any ideas, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.\

Did you ever find a solution to this?

I’m having a similar problem after doing an in-place upgrade to Windows 11 and I’m running out of ideas.

Turns our the child cert we generated had to be regenerated. After that all was well again.
