Best Free VPN for 2025?

Is there any good free VPN on Reddit? I’m trying to find the best free VPN in 2025, but there are so many choices that it’s hard to tell which ones are actually safe, fast, and easy to use without costing anything. I’ve spent a lot of time researching and comparing different free VPNs, but I’m still overthinking if it’s even worth it. I’ve read stories about free VPNs selling data and causing security risks, which makes me wonder if I should just go for a paid one instead. Still, I’ve come across a few free VPNs that seem decent.

  1. TunnelBear looks really user-friendly and seems pretty secure.
  2. Opera VPN is built into the Opera browser, so it’s super easy to use.
  3. Hotspot Shield is known for being fast, which is great for streaming and browsing.
  4. Windscribe offers a good amount of free data, which makes it stand out.
  5. ProtonVPN focuses a lot on privacy and security, which is a big plus for me.

Now I’m curious to hear what you guys think. What’s the best free VPN on Reddit right now? Are there any free VPNs that are actually worth using, or is it always better to go for a paid option? I’m also wondering what the best free VPN is for torrenting and if there’s a good free VPN for iPhone. I’d really appreciate your advice and personal experiences since it would help me and others looking for the best free VPN in 2025. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

There’s Proton level of free which is the best one

and there’s Opera level of free which will track you more than google.
if you put opera in that list it really means you don’t care about privacy at all.

Here’s a list of privacy friendly apps/services

Been using Windscribe, its decent

We’ve got a free beta running at the moment. It won’t be free the entire year but you can try it for 3 months. We are focused on censorship circumvention though so if that isn’t your particular use case something like ProtonVPN might be a better fit.

I’ve been using Mullvad for years. I used another VPN before, but it shut down sometime between 2016 and 2018.

All the others you mentioned have independent audits

Proton VPN (and probably their other services too) has completed an independent security audit and it has open source clients

Windscribe has all that too

TunnelBear was audited , and they use open source projects

HotspotShield has only had an independent security audit (idk if clients are open source)

But Opera is owned by Kunlun (I think their HQs are in Beijing), which also owns this AI website, which means it kinda defeats the purpose of a VPN (I don’t think you can even select a location), and Xi is definitely watching you more than Google.

Why waste our time with this pointless “answer”?

Freeware don’t you get it? It’s a freebie, you get sth for free , if interested you pay for the full advantage
