I am a bit concerned about my privacy while roaming a lot of open wifis.

OpenVPN on a digital ocean VPS. PFS, 4096 bit and I can create and revoke keys as needed. I generate my RSA keys locally.
If this is too technical for you, PIA is great.
I grabbed a subscription to NordVPN about a month ago and I use it daily here in Bali. Reasonable speeds and dead simple to use.
NordVPN offers double data encryption, over 2,000 servers in more than 50 countries, etc.
Oh, and it’s on the torrentfreak list that /u/gleeballs mentioned above.
You don’t really need a VPN on open wifi’s if you browse https sites. Very few sites/services are non secured these days.
I lived in China for 3 years and basically lived on VPNs.
I’d recommend Astrill, ExpressVPN, and Betternet. I’ve used all 3, and they’re all solid.
That said, you only need them for specific countries.

Does help to get around geo content locking though
This is pretty much the only reason you need it and it’s why I use it as well. Also, I didn’t know they had a VPN service specific to Digital Nomads as the title suggests lol.
