I am in a city in Nevada. I have to (IDC if it’s for desktop, or iphone) find a VPN that will allow me to spoof my location to a specific California zip code… please point me in the right direction. Everything I’m finding allows me to change location to a BROAD place like “san francisco” but I need it a bit more specific. Please help. Willing to pay of course .
The endpoint server would have to be physically located in the specific zip code you are seeking. Is there a data center in that location for any vpn provider? If not, you have only one way to do it and that is to set up your own vpn server there.
Geolocation by IP Address isn’t accurate enough to be used in this manner. An ISP gets an IP block either for the company as a whole or for a general area (usually statewide) and then randomly gives them out to customers. Best you’re going to get even if you actually lived in that zip code is a geolocation to the state with it giving random towns within that state.
Just look at where the zip code is located and take your best guess. Is the zip code for a residential area? If so, unlikely there’s a data center. Is it for a shopping mall? Unlikely there’s a data center. Rural area? Not likely. Even if it was for a tech park, odds of having a VPN provider’s server located there are slim. If you have a specific VPN provider in mind you can simply ask them if they have a server in [insert zip code here] instead of guessing. Otherwise, plan B is to build your own.
You have to realize that ‘spoofing’ with a VPN only makes your location appear to be wherever their endpoint server is located. It doesn’t let you pick any geo-location you want. If there is no server where you want to appear then a commercial VPN isn’t going to work for you.
