Attempting to use cyberghost vpn on my school wifi so I can get past blocked sites however when I try to open cyberghost it says it cannot connect and that my ISP may be blocking it. Is there any way around this?
You could try using another server. If you’re on the free tier, you’re probably hosed, chances are that the school blocked all of the IPs for free VPN providers.
That’s not how network administrators block VPN’s. They do not block specific IP’s and especially target the free servers. Most likely they blocked some ports that are necessary for the VPN connection. I’d recommend setting up L2TP / OpenVPN manually and checking if that works. If not, there is no way to bypass the fact that your network admin blocked the required ports.
Edit: If you are able to configure L2TP / OpenVPN manually you will be able to select specific ports. Most likely TCP 443 will not be blocked on your network.
