Chromiecraft Overview - An Extremely Progressive Private Server (video review by Hamsterwheel)
Can someone tell me what is progressive about it for someone at work who cant watchh the video for hours but CAN read on their phone on the toilet?
Looks like a server with a fairly unique and interesting concept that could have a lot of promise.
The main thing that would concern me with a server like this is how robust the dev’s content plan is and how receptive they are to any changes that might be necessary down the line due to the low population. I’ve played other small servers where the dev’s refusal to adapt has killed the server. For example, while I believe it’s the best choice right now with the 29 level cap, once the level cap reaches 60+ sticking to a x1 rate thoughout would be a mistake as new players are going to be a lot less willing to give it a try when the barrier to entry into the “fun” part of the game (multiplayer) is much higher.
Are the dev’s of this project aware of such issues and more importantly are they willing to make potentially controversial changes to keep the population healthy throughout the life of the server?
Just hit level 20. Love this server. Always finding BGs and RDF groups as a tank/DPS.
The whole aspect of finding BiS gear for 19 or 29 and so on is pretty fun.
Folks are currently farming Tanaris chests for loot just for the next level bracket.
Does this have arena?
This looks fun! I was getting bored of Classic waiting for TBC. Definitely going to give this a try
good video, nice and honest about numbers
What a simple yet awesome idea, going to be checking this out soon
I rolled here last night. I’ve been looking for an alternative to the lackluster bot-tastic TBC Classic option. This is perfect.
I like it but I’m really not interested to play much until they unlock the 50’s. Taking months to unlock each 10 levels really is too long for me personally. Getting BiS at low levels doesn’t really intrigue me.
I’m trying Turtle hardcore for now.
are there forums or something with bis guides? I like the server idea but still cba to research it all
Awesome! A real youtuber between us (i’m the loser one ahah)
Is the client itself custom or can I just change the realmlist in a 3.3.5a instally I already have going? I’m looking at the website and all I’m seeing is a download with a realmlist ready to go, but not the realmlist info, but I am probably missing something
Started playing the other day … is there any way to resolve latency issues? I start off in the green but within a min or so it bumps to over 8k.
The level cap is at 29 right now and will go to 39, 49, etc. With plenty of time in between. Its also going to release raid content in tiers too at 60 70 and 80. It uses the Wotlk client so it will go from “vanilla” to tbc to wotlk.
P.S.: is the los working as intended, feels so different from the servers I played on.
the los/movement/positioning/pathfinding/vmaps etc… systems are some major features our team has been working on during the recent months. There have been quite some big changes recently, that’s why you can see some differences with other private servers.
All our improvements are, of course, open-source. So you will see them in other private servers as well. You might also find some new minor bugs related to these features, which is normal when rewriting big portions of code, luckily we have been fixing more and more of them with time.
We are aware. The game must be fun, not boring.
I would make the observation they appear to be much more stable than comparable projects in the past such as Primal. So far it reminds me very much of The Rebirth, but with better community contributions to code.
I mean, 1x rates in wrath are effectively 4x versus a regular vanilla leveling speed. How much spoonfeeding does a latecomer actually need?
Yes the €120 bags totally hurt tailoring
Especially when you can make a guild with 3 signups and get the gbank unlocked.
