Just want to warn everyone about their sofware and service. It’s a scam company that will charge you for years after you quit using the sofware. I used their antivirus and system mechanic for about 5 years with mixed results. The software did not provide any direct way to unsubscribe so I contacted their support in January 2023 and got confirmation I had unsubscribed in email. In the beginning of April this year I got charged 79,99 dollars as an auto reneval. I concated them again and asked for refund. They confirmed I was now unsubscribed from their service. But NO REFUND. When provided information about my request of unsubscriging in 2023 with a confirmation email - they claimed it was not for the software but for live support…
Disgusting practices and I’m looking at options to report the company.
Again - the company is called iolo and is providing software including System Mechanic, System Mechanic pro, System Mechanic Ultimate defence, Privacy Guardian, Malware killer, Byepass TM and system shield. Stay far away!
In general - do not buy ANY subscription sofware where you can not unsubscribe without contacting support.
True. IOLO are scammers and their software while having good GUI are utter waste on the inside. I used system mechanic once on Windows 7 PC years back. It was annoying as hell. I have stayed away since.
Iolo is a rip off and a scammer . they enroll you and bill you for services NOT REQUSTED
Additional Agreement post. I enrolled in August of 22 and immediately canceled the subscription as I always do because I hate subscriptions. I specifically remember this one in particular because they don’t let you cancel easily in your account settings but you have to actually contact someone. Now, almost two years later I randomly get charged for my yearly subscription in MAY? Just a complete scam. I reported them to the FTC and I suggest everyone else does as well.
I got scammed as well after a year, only to find out that they only unsubscribed “live support”. WTF kind of unethical beasts are running this company? Frankly I’m surprised they’ve been able to get away with it for so long.
You are correct, iolo are thieves and need to be put out of business.
Agreed - shady company that is well known for vampire charges and then increasing them and when they are called on it, refuse to refund your money. Not too mention that it is a POS piece of software. It is next to useless.

I have used System Mechanic for about 12 years. Maybe that was a bad decision but I have had no problems. Now they have changed to a $20 monthly billing. I didn’t know. I suppose that they tricked me at last renewal. Many years ago I quit using Mcafee and then had a problem. I always wondering if McAfee caused it after I left them. I want to quit Iolo System Mechanic. Do I need to worry that they can punish me? I feel like they are scammy. I want to be done with them but they are probably very smart and maybe can get into my system.
I would appreciate some guidance.
