Does 1.1.1.1 + WARP affect FPS on games

I just got WARP and I’m wondering, will it impact my frame rates on games? Nonetheless I’ve heard good things about it otherwise.

FPS are generally affected by the performance of your GPU, and to some degree your CPU. WARP+ may or may not affect your ping for online multiplayer.

As a side note, I only see a speed increase on WiFi. Wired connections are actually slower in my experience on WARP+.

It might but probably shouldn’t. WARP functions the same as a VPN, but connects you to the nearest Cloudflare edge, and uses their connections to get you to the game server. They have edge servers everywhere and their connections are good, but you are adding an additional layer to the connection. If you’re far away from an edge or CF has a worse connection to the game server than your ISP it could make FPS worse but it’s uunlikely.

The WARP app also has “dns only” mode which is what slinkyrichie is talking about. As they say, that should not have any effect at all as it’s just doing the dns lookup.

Does Warp change my entire connection on pc included online games or just the browser?

Don’t see how it would.

It’s just resolving URLs.

I’m not suggesting that it does or doesn’t to be clear…

However, if it did it’s likely not because of or due to the tunnel functionality, but more associated with any memory mismanagement from either the gui application or deamon.

It absolutely fucking does lol. You need Warp+ though.

I know this is 3 years old, but as of 2/14/24 I was not able to connect to Ubisoft servers till I turned it off.

Entire connection. Works for playing Halo from Europe (minus 10-15 ping in my experience)

I don’t use the app at all I use the DNS settings from the website: https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/setup/windows/

I just set the DNS IPv4 1.1.1.1 and the alt 1.0.0.1, IPv6 2606:4700:4700::1111 it’s alt 2606:4700:4700::1001 but I don’t have any issues with running Ubisoft titles. I’m currently running XDefiant with no problems. DNS over HTTPS is off for me.

Yea I think WARP is tunneled DNS resolution.

Once resolved with an IP I think the tunnel is irrelevant.
