Mullvad vpn check and ipleak.net both say no dns leaks, but doileak.com keeps saying I have a dns leak. Problem seems to be fixed by enabling ipv6 in settings. Any insight? Browser is firefox and i already turned off dns over https.
What is the site saying, exactly?
From what I can see, the tool requires you to first run it while disconnected from the VPN and then run it again with the VPN connected? If you ran the first part without disconnecting from Mullvad, I can see how it might assume you’re leaking, since the second test will deliver the exact same results, making it think your connection is faulty.
Fwiw, I used the “Classic Tool” (because disconnecting from Mullvad is a pain) and it reported the same IP and DNS addresses as every other website I use to check - ipleak, bash.ws, dnsleaktest, whoer, browserleaks
It’s saying that the vpn is sending dns requests through a third party, when mullvad owns all its servers I thought. It gives me a different dns each time/country I try so I’m not sure if I’m actually leaking
That’s a bit worrying. Could you post screenshots of the results, possibly one showing the results with Mullvad disconnected and the other one with it connected?
Just to confirm, you’ve not configured any third-party DNS withing the Mullvad app?
Also, just to confirm, could you also do a check with another test site like bash.ws or browserleaks and see if the results correlate?
I dmd you the test results! Oh, and I’m not using any third party stuff within mullvad and browserleaks and bash.we both are fine (as in an incorrect isp and ip)
Sure, I’ll do it tomorrow night when i have more free time. Like I said though, enabling ipv6 I don’t receive the same results
