European in Moscow VPN trouble

Hey everyone, having trouble accessing some of my apps due to sanctions. The VPN i normally use is not working. What VPN do you use to access facebook, messenger & instagram for example?
Thank you.

That’s not due to sanctions but instead the russian government.

I use Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%85%D0%BE%D0%B4-%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%BA-%D1%80%D1%83%D0%BD%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B0/npgcnondjocldhldegnakemclmfkngch

It redirects just the blocked sites while keeping direct access to the rest. But sometimes (maybe 0.1% of cases for me) it doesn’t work - probably when a blocked site is less popular.

My own vpn server, that f*uckin times make me to learn it skill…

Sadly quite a few VPN services have been blocked for use inside Russia. But you should see if you can use your service (if it’s paid for) via an opensource app like OpenVPN or WireGuard. That’s how I continue to use Surfshark that has been blocked

If you download Yandex Browser, you can use Browsec VPN, it works for free, but for better connection you need to pay. Idk if it works on mobile devices, but it works on PC

Kaspersky works well enough for me. Regarding your VPN not working, a ton of them have been blocked/consistently are fighting to get through the government watchdog’s net, so that most likely explains things.

Try urban vpn, use it whenever I am in Russia, maybe it helps

At first I used Protonvpn, some protocols works correct, but speed is slow. Then, I made my own VPN server.

I use KeyOutline, they use Shadowsocks prototol and never had any problems. They sell keys via Telegram bot, then you use this key with Outline or Shadowsocks app for Android or Spectre for Iphone.

They all work for insta/fb and others. And free https://share.icloud.com/photos/052RvLMgpq1FQybwnW0XBFfiw

On phones, Octohide VPN works awesome for me.

I use freevpn and red shield vpn

Super VPN or Private VPN for Android

Обход блокировок Рунета for Chrome

Use turbo VPN or VPN.lat

It’s not sanctions.

It’s for your protection against pestilent western influence :).

I personally use:

- IPIP tunnel on home router (Mikrotik, other endpoint is Mikrotik CHR on VPS)

- AdGuard VPN (paid) on mobile devices when not at home.

Thanks, Kaspersky is working.

It is, due to them literally shutting down most VPNs. It’s been issued in like 2020 and ever since the active ones dwindled over time, I believe no free VPNs function rn at all, few paid ones are still up tho. ISPs work here in a peculiar fashion aswell – if you want good fibre provider you gotta choose the part of the city it operates in, otherwise you gotta pay extra for them to do it for you or they straight up say you gotta pick something else.

it is the government though!! every ISP has a mandated deep packet inspector that blocks access to a lot of websites, twitter (currently known as X) for example

please refer to my reply above where I mentioned the “deep packet inspection units” (government mandated and controlled black-box equipment) which are also capable of blocking certain VPN protocols because they inspect the packets. they can also block websites through them in Russia.
