Hi. FiOS is my provider, and I watch everything on a Roku TV. I’m fairly sure that neither the Roku TV nor the FiOS router I have allows you to install VPN software on them, but lemme know if that is not true. Is there any device that Verizon sells that allows you to pass through a VPN? Or a third party product? I’ve played around with virtual routers but it has had a poor success rate. Looking for any help!
Verizon does not. You can use consumer routers from ASUS, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, or stuff similiar to what you’ve done with virtualized routers to make this happen.
What do you even need a VPN for?
That’s good to know. Is there a specific router that you’d recommend?
Maybe they’re a gay pirate assassin.
Home games get blacked out. In the past I’ve used VPN to put myself in another state to work around that. But the FiOS router and Roku TV don’t appear to let you use vPN software on their hardware. So I have to route it thru my desktop PC. Can have VPN on phone but doesn’t seem to work on the phone and the option to cast the screen isnt avail. MLB has gotten fairly savvy about shutting this down rather than making any effort to expose more people to the sport. Morons
I personally use Ubiquiti at home. They are very stable and easy to configure. With those you can direct certain devices through a VPN (The Gateways and routers support OpenVPN And Wireguard) while leaving everything else untouched.
There are also other routers you can use like a GL.inet with DD-WRT which will accomplish the same goal.
Knowing what the goal is helps guide what the best solution is. I also use a TV with Roku installed on it. I like the interface since it is simple and remote except for the extra app buttons. I have disabled the app buttons and blocked all roku adds to fix the biggest issues. I also use a VPN to access my home network while away from home. With out knowing the goal lI have no idea what the solution would be.
Awesome thanks very much!
