No, Canada has very robust privacy laws and a warrant is required before any data is handed over.
Anyway, it’s true if you are planning to use a VPN service for nefarious purposes but, if you’re just using it to spoof your IP address so you can stream geo-blocked services and content or you want to use an encrypted tunnel while connected to someone’s public Wi-Fi then a Canadian VPN is just fine.
None of that is illegal and the RCMP won’t be crashing down your door as you watch American Netflix.
It’s just easier to quote prices in USD than it is to code the web and show prices in the currency of the person visiting the web site.
