Galaxy Book Go 5g - VPN App Installation Issues

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Book 5g on Verizon’s network. All was going well until I tried to install VPN software. I already had a Private Internet Access (PIA) account and was able to install the latest verison for Windows. However I had isues with the TAP adapter not installing and issues with it not being able to connect to a VPN server. After going back and forth with PIA’s Customer Service, I decided to try other VPN apps to see if they worked any better,

So far I’ve had nothing but issues with other VPN apps as well;

ExpressVPN - States it failed to install when it actually did. Can’t connect to VPN servers. When I exit the program and re-open, it states “Installation Failed” and to reboot. Iv’e un-installed/re-installed twice without a resolution. I’ve got an email out to Customer Service.

NordVPN - Won’t even install stating "“This program can only be installed on versions of Windows designed for the following processor architectures: x86 x64”. Considering the laptop has Windows 11 pre-installed on a 64-bit operating system, my guess is the NordVPN installer doesn’t like the processor on the laptop. I’ve got a Customer Support email out to them as well.

I’ve read (after the fact) that Windows 10/11 doesn’t really play as nice on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 processor as it would on an Intel or AMD processor. I’ve also read that some apps won’t install becasue of this. Had I known these issues in advance I probably would have purchashed something else instead.

If they offer an OpenVPN config you could try to use OpenVPN community arm64
OpenVPN

Or if they have wireguard configuration you could us this
Wireguard

Thanks for the reply. So do I install OpenVPN and WireGuard and then try to install ExpressVPN or NordVPN again afterwards?

No their clients won’t work with windows on arm but some vpn service providers offer client configs for 3rd party apps. If any of the services you use offer an OpenVPN config or a wireguard config you will be able to use that.

OpenVPN PIA

Nord servers list
On this page nord says what servers support and they offer OpenVPN but I don’t have a login to help you find it
