A few months ago, there was a post discussing switch to Guardian VPN and one of the developers of Guardian was interacting. There were a few feature requests, namely
— be able to trust WiFi networks so VPN isn’t on
— be able to disable VPN over cellular connection
— be able to automatically connect VPN when connecting to untrusted WiFi networks
Tzeejay was giving updates for Guardian then there’s been radio silence since. Anyone know the status of these? They’re kinda the things that are keeping me from bothering using the VPN.
The VPN is gone from their website; they are taken over by DNS Filter, who also doesn’t mention the VPN anywhere on their website. It’s no longer available in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. When I asked both companies about that in February 2024, neither one ever responded. I have serious trouble trusting the VPN because of that.
I was curious about Guardian as well. Do you have the ability to spoof your GPS location? If so, does this work well long-term or do services catch on pretty quickly and shut down IP addresses? Does it allow you to select a server to connect to on VPN, or is this feature available in a Smart DNS style feature?
I wanted to find a cheaper alternative to Express VPN and if subscribing to eero Plus can give me bonuses on managing my netwoek
Additional missing features:
- Work on Windows
- Work on Linux
- Have the Guardian app work for Eero users
