Has anyone tried a VPN for streaming services here in Switzerland?

break DRM is not the same as downloading thought? or does the law not make a distinction there?

I think its legal to break drm anyway to make a copy, in germany its not i think. But i admit both those things i only remember vaguely since its been at least 20 years since i read up on that law and at least 10 since its been relevant

Get a real-debrid.com account which is basically downloads torrents and one click hoster in their cloud without the need that you have a torrent client and therefore never need to upload. This way you download all the torrents directly in full speed too.

for english, filelist is pretty clean, but the challenge is to find an invite

These are all fine. I personally use TorrentGalaxy and haven’t had any bad experiences.

Use a VPN and always sort by seeders/leechers.

eztv.io

In Switzerland it is legal to download but not to upload.

afaik for own use- yes, just be sure to disable uploading since it may be considered as distribution

its technically illegal for sure, since torrenting also means uploading (edit: obvious exception if you fine a torrentprogramm that never uploads, but when push comes to shove i would not want to argue that in court), which is the illegal part. no idea how well enforced it is thought (never really used torrents), that being said, i have not heard of any convictions (doesnt mean there arent any, just i never heard of it)

VPN solves that issue. Or as others said just disable seeding, but that’s kinda a dick move.

If you disable the seeding function then you’re all good

for own use afaik it’s legal, it’s not germany

Downloading is only a problem while uploading at the same time.

Yes Germany illegal, here not.

I still download things also because I want sometimes show my son old games from my childhood and you don’t get them anywhere anymore only as a crack over a torrent or without a torrent over some download archive like for example: https://www.myabandonware.com/.

I also still use the old ETH Torrent downloader without Upload.

And I also download Movies that aren’t available in Switzerland but in other countries and my logic is that I pay full price but only get a whiff of what other get.

Going full Bünzli here.

Still illegal if they seed on their side. And if they’re not seeding there’s really no need : again, you can disable upload in most if not all torrent clients, you don’t need a specific tool let alone service/subscription for that. Just use a public tracker, disable upload in the client, done. Or don’t disable upload, it’s not like they’re going after individual small scale uploaders, they have bigger fish to fry.

cough cough cough

btw: add Jellyseer to your arr stack if you use jellyfin, great add-on

I would imagine that those invite-only sites you’d have to seed as well right? Which is the issue here in ch

Otherwise, I’d love an invite xD

Only if you disable seeding

Yes yes i understand that no hard feelings mate

hey maybe as a sidenote https://archive.org/details/classicpcgames is great but for some reason does not show up on google searches very much

You are not uploading and only 443 encrypted traffic visible. By definition it is legal in Switzerland.

it depends, many torrent are freelech, meaning these don’t affect the ratio, also you can ‘buy’ upload gb’s if you want(esp during christmas with discount). Or take the risk and seed initially to get some good ratio and after that it’s not that hard
