How do i download Older versions of the VPN client on android, IOS, MacOS, and Windows?

every search result i found were from untrusted websites with low ratings and a spammy layout.

potentially bundled with spyware or malware

You can’t: because the updates are meant to plug vulnerabilities and bugs in software or the core services themselves. Using an outdated version would potentially put you and your entire network at risk. Breaches/leaks/malware etc etc. if the most up to date version don’t work for you then I would probably try another provider.

Actually just have a reason to downgrade but just CAN’T because of such stupid policy from Proton. “We’re open source but we delete all of the old version releases from Github”. Guys at Proton, are you okay? In latest update I’m unable to set connection protocol in macOS client to any other option than IKEv2. And now I want to downgrade app to fix this issue instead of waiting for a fix in the next version. But it’s so difficult to find older version online FOR NOT A SINGLE REASON!

Proton still hosts old versions. If you go to the official download page for Windows, and hover over the download button you’ll see that the latest version is currently 3.2.10 https://protonvpn.com/download/ProtonVPN_v3.2.10.exe. Change that “10” to a “9” to get the previous version. Before picking random numbers though, check the release notes in the latest version to see which versions were officially released: 3.2.9, 3.2.8, 3.2.7 show in the changelog, but 3.2.6 doesn’t so was probably a beta release.

Likewise with MacOS 4.1.1: https://protonvpn.com/download/ProtonVPN_mac_v4.1.1.dmg

https://github.com/ProtonVPN/android-app/releases

https://github.com/ProtonVPN/win-app/releases

Or the person can use the WireGuard configs provided by Proton. You should never forget to list out all options available

Hi! We’d just like to mention that, as a general practice, we discourage against using older versions of our applications, as new versions may contain security updates and bug fixes that are not available in older versions.

Yes that’s true as well. Manually set it up as well.

You broke protocol selection with 4.4.0 version. Will you still advocate from using older versions after that?

There’s bound to be a lot of people wanting to downgrade after they updated and found that instead of being able to choose from 30+ servers in 3 different countries, they’re now limited to a single communal server in the US that’s always at 75%+ load.

I can understand wanting to tempt people to subscribe but that’s insanely extreme.

se olvidan de mencionar en en nuevas versiones arruinan por completo la experiencia de los usuarios que no pagan por su programa, ya que no deja elegir el servidor.

I use Mullvad. I trust it because they got raided by the cops and the cops found nothing. Cops left empty handed. I can’t say the same for Proton VPN yet.

That shouldn’t be the case. What exact issue are you experiencing in regards to changing protocols? What Proton VPN are you currently running on your device?

Make sure to have followed our guide for changing protocols on MacOS: https://protonvpn.com/support/how-to-change-vpn-protocols/#macos

With the Free plan changes, we aim to provide optimal speeds and latency to everyone who uses our free unlimited, ad-free VPN. That said, although free users cannot select a specific server, you can always change the server that was initially assigned to you. I use both. I have proton and Mullvad. So far I’m testing Mullvad. But I like how it’s setup and the simplicity of it. Cheap, straight forward and to the point. But I also like proton. Both are rated 5/5 with pcmag for probably the two most well rounded VPNs on the market surpassing even the two most marketed VPNs on the planet (nord and express). If anyone was to choose a vpn it should be proton or Mullvad.

Proton VPN hasn’t proved their no logs policy in the eyes of the law just yet. Mullvad is better in my opinion. But if a user needs port forwarding AzireVPN is my next suggestion.

Note that our free VPN has no ads and no logs and is as secure & private as our paid plans. It’s made possible thanks to the support from our paid users, NOT your data. With that in mind, certain features are necessarily available only on our paid plans.

That isn’t correct.

January 2019 – A data request from a foreign country was approved by the Swiss court system. However, as we do not have any customer IP information, we could not provide the requested information and this was explained to the requesting party.

I guess you have faced the law, my apologies. I didn’t know
