How do I download the app directly from the NordVPN website?

This might be a dumb/basic question, but I’m not so good at tech and can’t figure it out.

I want to download the Android app from the website, but every time I try to, my phone’s system forces me to open the link in the Google Play Store. This isn’t such an issue usually, but I really want to take advantage of the ad-blocking component, and the Play Store doesn’t allow for that feature. Could anyone help me out here?

I’ve tried Duckduckgo and Firefox, but I’ll try Chrome just in case. I actually was able to download the APK version; threat protection lite just still isn’t blocking ads, so I assumed I needed to download the other one
