How do I know if manual IKEv2 connection to VPN is working on my Macbook?

I have an older macbook running an older macOS so I’m trying to connect using the built-in VPN client. I followed the steps in the article above exactly, but when I click ‘connect’ in my network settings it turns green and gives me a spinning logo and says “connecting…” but I’m not sure it is actually connected or not because it doesn’t say “connected”. Just to see if it was working I logged into Netflix and it still looks like its in the US. Any suggestions on what to do?

Check https://ip.me before connecting (should show your IP) and after connecting (should show a different IP).

Check using browserleaks.com/ip , and do the DNS leak test in there too. Other tests under browserleaks.com are useful too.
