How to bind qbittorrent and Nord VPN on Mac

Hi there, currently having trouble with binding qBittorrent’s settings to bind to Nord’s virtual adapter.would anyone have any step by steps?

I think I understand but not sure how to get the Nord Virtual adapter that the vpn uses.

did an ifconfig and I see two active adapters before and after turning them on

Figured it out I think

  1. do an ifconfig

  2. Turn on vpn

  3. qbittorent → preference → Advanced → Network Interface

  4. theres a drop down menu lo0, en1, awdl0, utun0, utun1, utun2, utun3, utun4 etc THESE are the network adapters

  5. do another ifconfig there should be some changes between the two ifconfigs after turning on the vpn. pick the adapter that got changed

4.1) randomly pick a network adapter, restarting the qbittorent each time. Itll only start downloading if you binded the correct adapter

  1. you can test by turning off your vpn client and seeing if it turns off the torrent client

It just doesn’t work on Mac unfortunately

5 years later, but thanks stranger. It worked for me. Mine was utun4. I did what you did, checked adpaters before activating VPN and then checked for any new adapter that poped up after activating VPN. I tested and it is working.

I think I figured it out! I noticed that qbittorent will only download if I pick the correct adapter

It’s just an extra precaution.

If the nordvpn does it should stop your internet connection

But also by binding the torrent client to the vpn client you won’t get any traffic through your network either. So just extra safety measures

For me it was utun4, I noticed there was activity and a change when the vpn was on with nord

It changes whenever I turn on my vpn

Have you tried “ipsec” ?

I don’t have an option for IPSec on qbittorenT

When I do ipconfig I don’t see it being used

In the “adapter” menu in the advanced settings, I have a bunch of them including ipsec which works all the time. But my VPN is different from yours
