I can't leave ExpressVPN

Hello guys,

as someone already (rightly) pointed out in some posts here, I honestly feel the service has declined over years. The main issue for me, is that in the server I’ve been using for 4+ years there’s an issue. At evening the network get probably so congested that it’s hard not to see 200+ ping. Also I am getting a lot of other little issues that make the experience very frustrating. Talked to the support about this many times but it looks like it’s going to /dev/null.

Of course I started looking for alternatives and I found what’s perfectly suitable for me (won’t say the name). The issue is that my yearly renewal has been in December and the support already told me it’s (even partially) refundable just after 30 days you have been charged…

I guess that person here that said it’s better to pay monthly with this services was right… What do you think?

Re: your decision to wait till Dec

sunk-cost fallacy

the phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.
“the sunk-cost fallacy creeps into a lot of major financial decisions”

IMO, ExpressVPN hasn’t already done much for years, and since the kape acquisition, it seems even more stagnant.

Thanks for sharing your experience though. I’d love for you to join my new community at /r/vpncomparison where others share and compare VPNs just like you have here.

Why won’t you share with us the new service? :frowning:

Because I simply don’t know if I am allowed to ahah

Yes, you can! I moved to Proton after my year was done. Canceled the subscription and told my bank to refuse any transaction coming from Express VPN, days later my subscription ended, and turned off automatically renewal, Express VPN tried to charged me again, obviously the bank refused it, and I was free to go.

Thank you for your answer! Yes, of course i can cancel, but after the year is done unfortunately… I usually renew in december and going away now would mean wasting more than an half of the subscription and a lot of money, and no partial refund is available…

I’m surprised anyone is moving to proton when they hand over ip logs

I cancelled a week or so ago due to the price increase with renewal. It took my cancellation. I did cancel the auto renew with Paypal to be safe. But ExpressVPN acknowledged the cancellation & now the ExpressVPN UI tells me my subscription expires in x number of days right next to a Renew button. I still have over a month. 39 days today <3!

No, they don’t. Log Policy

Yes lmao they do

You’re talking about Proton Mail (I know is the same company), but they have different Privacy policies.

Anyone can choose which company trust, but I cancelled & moved away from EVPN after kape purchase (Still have a PIA subscription I don’t use).

I also use a Surfshark subscription, but not as good and fast as ProtonVPN.

As much as I would love to try proton vpn. Idk how u can trust a company that went against their word (they changed get their policy right after the incident) especially their vpn

I have a surfshark subscription as well but i can’t find a vpn that can match their speeds. I wish they didn’t get into bed with kape
