Is Atlas VPN suitable for the *arr stack?

Hello, I’m not trying to promote the service here. It’s just the one I’ve got a subscription for right now.

I’ve heard that for some reason it’s not the best option when it comes to VPNs (no OpenVPN support for example).

I’m a complete noob to self hosting but is wireguard support enough to let the downloads run through the VPN or is there something else I’m not seeing?

Hope you guys can help me out

Using Wireguard is fine, sure, but no idea about these Atlas VPN folk (whether they let you torrent through them etc). But if they’re ok with torrenting then go for it.

If there is wireguard support you should be able to bind your torrent instance to the wireguard adapter so it doesn’t dynamically switch network interfaces between your actual connection and your VPN connection.

However i would review their general accepted use cases and terms especially around peer to peer and similar activities. Ultimately I sleep better using a VPN provider with a proven track record

On their website it says that they support P2P/torrenting to make sure the user stays private. They state that it’s only meant for legal file transfers and not piracy but I guess that’s something they just need put up there.
