You have been using Betternet for months with no issues known to you. Is it possible issues exist unknown to you? Yes? No? Maybe?
…is it doing something i dont know?
No one can know something he doesn’t know unless he does some detective work, research, and/or study. If you can travel to the location of each Betternet server, freely access each server, and examine each one, you might be able to ascertain whether any of the servers have been logging and saving users’ information during the interval since the server last started, but you cannot know whether any of the servers logged and saved your information in the past; you cannot know whether the server will log and save your information tomorrow or some other future day unless you can examine each server tomorrow or some other day. If you ask someone who is operating a Betternet server, he or she might or might not answer with the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth after you ask, “Have you ever logged and saved users’s information in the past? Are you logging and saving users’s information now? Will you be logging and saving users’ information in the future? Have you ever sold or shared users’ information in the past? Are you selling or sharing users’s information now? Will you ever sell or share users’ information in the future? Can I trust you 100%?”

Select Torbutton>Security Settings>Safest
Select NoScript>Revoke Temporary Permissions
After you run the test again, it should report, “Does your browser protect from fingerprinting. ✓ yes”.
so what if i stopped using betternet. Then all i’ve got to defend myself is tor.
A VPN is unnecessary when using Tor Browser. A VPN definitely can make you less safe. A VPN can put your personal information at risk and, depending on the VPN configuration, can reveal your computer’s IP address. By itself, Tor Browser will preserve your anonymity and protect your privacy. See the images at Tor: Overview and Tor: Onion Service Protocol.
