I’m new to the VPN area. I have done my own research on what it is and how it works. I just am a little concerned if NordVPN is a safe VPN to use as I have seen news articles and videos saying it was hacked. I hear great things about NordVPN and hope it is safe but I want to hear from real users. Like what do NordVPN see if you download it? And are their viruses?
Your concern is understandable will all the gossip going around. I would suggest to read Nord’s article where they explained what exactly happened and how the services were affected: https://nordvpn.com/blog/official-response-datacenter-breach/
In regard to logs, they do not keep any. They recently completed a second audit to prove that. You can find more info on it here: https://nordvpn.com/blog/nordvpn-audit/
Going to get a lot of unbiased answers here
Here’s the thing: Everybody gets hacked. What differentiates good companies from bad is how they handle it.
Lots of shills and aff’s everywhere. Its safe as in you wont get viruses from their app if you download from the official site.
They 'cant ’ see anything but scrambled packets - as with every vpn no one really knows but thus far even after the hack it appears no data has been publish, least from my reading.
What are you after/wanting?
I also listened to the rumors, internet technology is in the forum. There was the one who threw away about privacy. I am using a problem I have not experienced right now.
My question to you is, don’t do it if you use it maliciously. Your head will be in big trouble.
Nord vpn site article: It does not concern anyone what you do on the Internet. Therefore, we do not track, store or share your personal data. Even if they ask us, we cannot give any details to third party people.
Shame Torguard isn’t much faster nearly 3 times cheaper and better in every aspect. Pity.
My thoughts on this sub: NordVPN or Millvad
I’ve used it for over a year. Heck, I’m downloading something with it right now.
It works.

I got much better speeds and lower latency on my NordVPN trial vs my TorGuard trial. Wasn’t a fan of Torguard’s app either.
Also, since you’re going to compare prices after promo codes and discounts, NordVPN is cheaper at about $20 for three years with cashback.
I’m not flat out telling people to get NordVPN, I still haven’t subscribed but I’m looking for options after my current VPN sub expires and so far Nord has worked the best for me after trying Surfshark, WeVPN, Windscribe, ExpressVPN, and Torguard.
I recommend everyone simply try free trials or take advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee that most VPN providers have and see what gives you the best speed, latency, reliability etc… what works amazing for someone, might not be good for others.
£11.95 pm seems steep for a service which just works. Many better options out there that do more than just work.
Speedtest by Ookla; seeing it firsthand is more reliable than anything else imho
NordVPN is not cheaper. You can get TorGuard for $100 for 4 years with promo codes, versus NordVPN for 3 years $125 ish. Even with cashback, it would be more expensive.
Okay that covers one person’s speed. Now the other aspects? Security? Openness? Record keeping? Number of servers, and area covered?
Wrong. It’s more like $20-25 for three years depending what site you use. Go check out cashbackmonitor.
I have done my own research and they seem to tick all the boxes. Their server number is 3000+; lower than Nord due to less users but like I said my speeds are much better for Torguard. 50 countries. They are very open, based in the USA and you can find the CEO on LinkedIn. No logs AT ALL according to privacy policy. There’s always an element of trust with VPNs but I believe they are the most open and secure.
Doesn’t sound legit no thanks
Better information. Thanks.
What doesn’t sound legit, the concept of cash back that has been around for a while now? I don’t care what you do, that’s why I didn’t bother sending links or anything further since it’s obvious where your stance is.
I’ve used cash back before on other VPNs and it’s legit and I’ve always gotten my money.
