Issues with Assumed location through VPN - Incorrect Currency

When using my VPN, I have issues with some sites assuming that because I’m connecting from a different country that I want to see prices and stuff in a foreign currency.

I understand why this happens.

What’s the easiest way to get around this, if possible? I’ve tried looking at how to stop Chrome from taking my location and using it, but it seems the answer there is “Use a VPN”.

I’ve also tried a Currency Converter, but that didn’t do anything for the few sites I tested.

This happens in both Chrome and Firefox, the latter of which I should have pretty locked down, privacy wise, with a good startup config, but I guess it doesn’t help prevent it from just looking at what my IP is.

It varies depending on the sites, without knowing which sites your referring to you won’t get much useful advice

Some websites follow the browser or system’s locale settings and adjust shown language and currencies accordingly. Some don’t.

It’s good that you understand why this happens, and I’m sure you’re smart enough to find the solution.

Google is one example - Google Shopping

Agreed, but I thought I’d try and save some time and see if others have already found a solution before I spend more time looking.

A solution might be to simply change the URL suffix to the country you are shopping from. I.E. If the VPN directs you to “shopping.google.de/blahblahblah” - change “.de” to “.com” or “.co.uk” etc.

I tried this, but it still seems to latch on to the price. I figured it might be a cookie-related thing from going there first, but cookies are based on the whole URL I believe, so I’m not quite sure.
