Imagine thinking that making it harder for small kids to watch anal fisting videos is somehow censorship
Good thing there aren’t any other porn sites on the Internet!
you can watch anal fisting on twitter. Why aren’t they asking twitter to comply?
This isn’t even about porn. The government shouldn’t be able to mandate ID verification to access a website. Its also not their job to parent people’s children for them.
Besides, these laws are easily bypassed by VPN’s. They also only affect dedicated porn sites. I live in Kentucky, where we have one of these ID verification laws. I can head on over to r\porn and see all sorts of hardcore porn, no VPN needed. I’m sure there are a ton of other porn subs out there, too. Hell, even Google images will pull up millions or pornographic images with a simple search.
But sure, let’s give the government even more authority than they already have. What could go wrong?
not my fault that republicans are so censorious. I’ve posted plenty of both sides censoring pro-Pal speech.
And twitter can be held liable for it under these laws … its not that complicated
Although personally i think they should go after the individual if its on a social media site
Why do websites get special treatment? We require IDs for bars, strip clubs, R rated movies and to buy cigarettes and alcohol, why not for porn? There’s ways around every law, kids get alcohol all the time, does that mean we should just allow 10 year olds to buy beer and a carton of cigs at Walmart? Your logic doesn’t hold water.
imagine uploading your ID to some guy running a webcam channel from his garage.
Don’t even try to both sides this when your entire post history is filled with you foaming at the mouth over republicans lmao
Because flashing your ID to an employee isn’t the same as uploading a photo of said ID to the internet where it remains forever and is prone to security breaches.
What happens if the government requires ID verification for social media (which some in government have talked about)? If you get banned, you’re banned for life because your real identity is linked to your actions. There’s also the potential for a social media blacklist, as we’ve known for a while that most major social media companies communicate with one another. Its how Alex Jones was banned from every social media site within hours.
Imagine you say something that reddit management disagrees with. They ban you, and you will never be able to make another account. Then, they pass your ID information on to other companies who shadow ban your accounts that are tied to your ID, knowing that you’re a “wrong think” participant. Congrats, you’re effectively banned from all social media for life.
ID verification is a security and privacy risk. You’re a fool if you think this will stop at porn.
Literally none of these websites that require ID verification are doing it in house. Absolutely none. It’s not practical at all.
They’re all using third parties like veriff, idenfy, or id.ME similar to TONS of financial institutions to obtain a secure token to verify the user. The site never sees the users actual ID.
Again I don’t necessarily agree with it, but love the bad faith fearmongering as expected.
they are the most censorious after all
Ok if it’s a security risk shouldnt we be investigating the porn sites then for having bad security and leaking private data? Also you have to upload a photo of your ID for many things online like Uber, job applications, and other online purchases of regulated items, they all seem to do just fine keeping your ID secure. Pornhub is one of the biggest websites on the planet and you’re really telling me they have no options for secure ID verification? This is nothing new nor is this censorship, this is simply an extra measure to help prevent children from being exposed to highly addictive sexually depraved images at a young age.
Another option for reviewing removed content is your Reveddit user page. The real-time extension alerts you when a moderator removes your content, and the linker extension provides buttons for viewing removed content. There’s also a shortcut for iOS.

Would love to see which lobbyists and politicians they’ve donated to.
So not only is the state forcing pornogrophers to ask customers to enter their personal info into a database, they have to hire it out to some group that stands to benefit financially from it?
Data breaches happen to all sorts of companies. I’m not sure why you think this is exclusive to porn websites.

A job application is a little more significant than clicking a link and visiting a website. ID verification for purchasing regulated items is a convenience and isn’t necessary. You can purchase a gun online, then it gets sent to a dealer where your identity is verified in person and a background check is performed. I’ve never done it, but from what I understand, you can buy alcohol online and verify your ID before it’s shipped to you. There’s no reason it couldn’t be sent to a liquor store to have your ID verified. I don’t want my ID on the internet whatsoever.
this is simply an extra measure to help prevent children from being exposed to highly addictive sexually depraved images at a young age.
Except it doesn’t. I guess you missed the part of my comment where I mentioned I live in kentucky. We have an ID verification law that has been in effect since last year. I can find endless amounts of hardcore porn on reddit with no ID required and google images will show me millions of pornographic photos with a basic search. What’s your solution then? ID verification to use any website? Very curious to hear your answer.
Again just because there’s ways around a law, doesn’t mean the law shouldn’t exist, that’s nonsense. And again, I never said only porn sites have security issues, you did. Unless you’re now pivoting and arguing that we should get rid of any digital ID verification all together which would also be really stupid. If you don’t want your ID to be digital than find your porn elsewhere. Where not making laws based around your personal convenience, last I checked you don’t have the right to access any porn site you want without ID. Nobody is forcing you to use pornhub so they’re not forcing you to use any sort of digital ID. Don’t like it? Use a VPN. I can’t imagine being this upset because accessing porn is slightly less convenient. This doesn’t violate anybodies rights nor does it censor anybody, get over yourself my dude
I never said only porn sites have security issues, you did
I never said that. Quote me where I said this, and I’ll delete my account right now.
Spoiler: >!You can’t.!<
Unless you’re now pivoting and arguing that we should get rid of any digital ID verification all together which would also be really stupid
To access certain websites, yes, we should get rid of it. I thought I made that clear, but apparently not.
If you don’t want your ID to be digital than find your porn elsewhere
Elsewhere? So, you’re acknowledging these laws don’t work?
Nobody is forcing you to use pornhub so they’re not forcing you to use any sort of digital ID. Don’t like it? Use a VPN. I can’t imagine being this upset because accessing porn is slightly less convenient.
Again, you’re admitting that these laws are easily bypassed. You think a 12-year-old can’t figure out how to use a VPN? I have had surfshark for a long time. Download the app, log in, and click on a server you want to connect to. Boom, the law is null in less than a minute. Or you can just hop on reddit and find thousands of hardcore porn videos and images without a VPN.
I knew you were going to ignore my question at the end, because there’s no way for you to answer it and maintain your argument. You know that ID verification to access websites is a bad thing, but you won’t admit it. That’s why you didn’t answer.
