Surfshark is trash. Paid for 3 years and it doesn't work on desktop or laptop after several months

Paid about 1 year ago. Worked great for 8 months. Now it won’t update, won’t delete, impossible to redownload. Never in my 20 year history with computers have I had an app just completely lock itself up on my system and refuse to do anything. Tried deleting in registry even if I recall correctly. And there it remains, always “running in the background” taking resources and giving nothing. Any suggestions?

Hi there, thank you for letting us know about this. I recommend reinstalling the Surfshark app using Windows uninstaller. That should help remove it and hopefully fix the issue here. However, if you still see that it’s stuck, please get in touch with us at [email protected] or live chat. Our support team is well-equipped to help resolve this.

The problem you’re describing is called “Windows”. Haven’t touched a Windows system since Windows XP, haven’t had problems like that.

Idk never seen that before… Have you tried using an uninstaller like bcuninstaller?

No issues at all, using it for more than a year. I think the issues are more on you’re side and not surfshark.

i had it for 2 years off and on and never had problems like that. so either you hae a mac or just bo that good wih technology

I had surf shark for a while. It would say it was connected when it wasnt. Awful service

I got it on both my Mac’s android devices and Apple TV no issues here

You get what you pay for. Everyone bitches at the price of ExpressVPN, , or even the cheaper NORD VPN, but they are great. Buy cheap….Buy twice.

I am using surfshark. It was slow but in recent months it has become better. I am using it from India. From time to time, Google asks to prove I am human. That’s the problem.

I am using Surfshark On ubuntu. I also faced problems with updates 1 to 2 times but Surfshark helped. Customer care is slow. But, after the recent speed boost, I think I am fine. I have not tested other paid VPN so I can’t say much on the subject. At the time of purchase, I compared and read a lot. Then I thought to give it a try.

Have you tried using a third party uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller? It might help remove all traces of the app.

I read a toms hardware review or similar I think it was Tom’s, where they said surf shark was the fastest. Ofcourse I think they talk out there butt sometimes because they also say the Intel arc is only a 1440p card. I play 4k ultra flawlessly with all games and doesn’t stutter. It just isn’t 100FPS

Sadly the client (interface) is being fooled around with. Many times SS software people make an “improvement” it comes up with strange bugs, It’s usually interaction with some other software that may conflict. For example it seems many different providers are trying to get on the sell you a VPN bandwagon. Let’s face it, write a client, lease some slots at various sources, many times web hosts looking to sell their excess bandwidth capacity. I have had email providers, A/V programs, adblock extension providers, and other sources. Vary little initial investment to get things up and running.

So there’s your problem. I have more programs stepping upon SS forcing me to do the Revo uninstall routine and reload until the next conflict. for years I hadn’t had a problem with SS. Now they are fooling around with the software trying to upsell more stuff they are trying to bundle, and wham I start having intermittent Internet lock outs, The only way to solve it is to clean out the existing SS client then do a fresh install.

Here’s a suggestion: Instead of slapping all the upsell gizmos, strip all that garbage out and go back to your roots. It used to be a nice program, just set it up and let it run in the background doing it’s job. A good feature is that letting you suspend the VPN as more and more sites are blocking VPNs thanks to Cloudflare blacklist. It is what it is and isn’t going to change. Cloudflare’s service spends serious time building those VPN IPs blacklists. So while we learn to deal with the blacklists that SS’s engineers have little or no control over, a nice very functional VPN interface that’s fast to load would be a winner. Please have your client stay out of our face. When I saw the AVG affiliation, a program that used to be the nag winner trying to upsell or showing the user how smart they are.

Surfshak is slow but worked for me most cases

I had enough of Surfshark issues (if ‘not working’ is described as an ‘issue’). I’m not renewing that’s for sure.

Happy Holidays, I had this problem with a different application. If you can locate the files try zipping the files (using winrar) and then archived the files and deleted them. Not sure if it will work, but if not you could just extract the files again.

Look I don’t know who has started messing around with your software client. I would reverse all the “improvements” made in the last couple or three months. SurfShark had a stable relatively straightforward interface. Now? Look Magnus et all, all you are offering is a connection to the point of presence IP that you lease like all the other providers provide. If I wanted more than an a VPN, I’ll let you know. At this point I have 2 different software packages on my systems that are offering me a free VPN along with my current subscriptions

When I started to see AVG’s association with SurfShark I was waiting for the poop to hit the fan. AVG may be a good A/V but their software is a royal pain in the ass and annoys the heck out of you trying to sell/upsell. Wanna lose customers? You should teach the 101 course.

Please put back SurfShark to the way it was or get ready to start losing many, many customers. It’s a simple as that, I couldn’t be clearer and believe me, it’s a fact.

guilty as charged. every iteration gets worse.

I have a Mac and Surfshark is horrible with Mac as well

Revo clears everything out
