The problem with /r/privacy sometimes is the lack of expertise in responses. Very few pro on this sub.
Yeah, there is no such thing. Thats not the way any of this works.
Though I realize, you’re creating a haystack for the needle. Can you also fake the needle?
You clearly don’t know how Tor works then. If I do A,B and C with Tor there will be no way to know if I did this or if any of the other thousands of people using Tor did it. All that is known is that I use Tor. This is the only thing that will be collected about you. So it wouldn’t become “another” point it would become the only point, masking all other points.
Understood that reference
Haha,
Nothing is ever truly secure
I used clear in lieu of translucent/ transparent. But if something is private, in this analogy, opaque is appropriate.
Narrator: they were not
And is that not what privacy is, in this context? Something that you cannot see through?
Good point, the randomness needs to be ‘less’ random and more to hide in plain sight.
Don’t stand out, be the same as a million others and act like you belong.
Very hard to do!
Unless lots of people use the same exact patterns and are indistinguishable. Then it’s impossible to isolate an individual from the noise.
Of course, reaching that point of adoption isn’t going to be easy.
I think the best thing then would be to frequently resize
dimension
It’s astonishing how display dimensions (viewport) is accessible even if you’re running Brave, or a stripped Firefox with all kinds of privacy addons. Tried them all, it’s always there. What a joke.
While getting perfect privacy is tricky af, things like viewport dimensions go a long way to pooping the party. If anyone knows an easy standard way of fixing it, let us know.
While I’m here I’ll just mention the dom.battery feature. Reports your current battery percentage and whether you’re plugged into an outlet or not. Fantastic source of unique data, and also gives an idea of whether you’re out, at your desk or at home for laptops/phones.
Dumb shit like this will keep getting added to browsers, the DOM and the HTML* standard until we pull the plug on letting Mozilla and Google run the show. They’re basically the central authority for how the web, browsers and html should work now. Open standard run by companies with enough money and personell power to make sure it’s too big and complicated for individuals and voulenteer groups to keep up.
And it can be correlated to build a fingerprint for you.
Okay. Thats understandable. I agree in that sense. While DDG is far from the best solutions, it’s still 100x better than Google XD.
They also have an android version on playstore but I know nothing about its features
I don’t flame people lol. No worries. A browser is what you use to either make DNS requests manually or use a search engine. A search engine indexes domains and webpages to be found using keywords and such (e.g Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, etc).
A browser without a search engine would simply only be able to visit webpages if you knew the domain by heart and type it out. Search engines provide users with domains based on searches.
Ahhh. I see. I stand corrected and you have my condolences.
Wouldn’t it be possible to record sets of human behaviour and then replay that?
You need to create a needlestack
