Is this due to adding surf shark to my phone?? I hadn’t a een this captcha until after adding surf shark. I have no idea what it is talking about as I don’t surf anything interesting. It happens on WiFi and cellular.
I also kept doing it after I turned off the vpn. I only added surf shark because occasionally I use public WiFi if there is no cell service…say a doctor’s office or another indoor appt with bad reception.
Just use a different server from surfshark, it is normal, nothing to worry about.
Hi, it seems that your question has already been answered by fellow Redditors here, there are good suggestions in the comments.
Indeed, IPs used by VPNs get ‘blacklisted’ very often, thus captchas are thrown at you if not simply the connection gets rejected.
Usually if you disconnect the VPN, the problem goes away. But if you’re using a browser you may need to clean your cookies or use it in private mode because the service might have tagged you as at risk.
Refund and leave this is due to abuse and not every vpn has these issues. DO NOT BUY A DEDICATED IP.
refund and test more vpns
In my country there is only 1 server left that is not blocked by many sites. Most servers are detected as vpn connection so totally useless.
I can’t even use surfshark on my phone. Once I turn it on, I can’t call out or recieve calls. I have a free account with textnow, but even when I was paying monthly it happened.
I use SS on my laptop since I normally don’t use my phone for searches or anything other than calling or texting. But it would be nice to have that extra protection if I need it.
Ive had to turn vpn off for this reason. Most sites I go to And apps I use, stopped working. Changed servers and it sometimes works. I just keep the vpn off.
what do I do when I’m still at risk in incognito? My VPN is off but some sites wont let me in and Google keeps throwing the captcha at me every single search
This was a solid issue with SurfShark - hence, I did not renew. For example, my Telsa app wouldn’t work if I had SS connected. I switched, the problems have reduced 90% but of course, captcha are still thrown my way. I was considering dedicated IP, but why would you recommend against it?
Hey, we’d like to take a look at these issues you had with calling on your phone while using Surfshark, maybe you could contact us at [email protected] or via live chat?
Hi there, clearing your cookies and cache could mitigate this issue, as your previous location can sometimes be cached by the browser. However, we would need more information overall to efficiently solve this issue for you. Could you contact our support team at [email protected] or via live chat on our website?
Is not that “you are at risk”, is that likely you IP has been flagged as suspicious by Google or Cloudflare or whomever entity your ISP has to provide cloud security.
You can try unplugging your modem and see it forces your ISP to provide you a new IP. If issue persist with VPN off, then you should call your ISP.
Moreover, this should not happen when you’re VPN, if it does, contact support. It could be a DNS leak or something else which needs to be troubleshooted.
Did you check your connection with https://ipleak.net
Best luck!
