Topographic Map of Asia. Tibetan Plateau is just massive!
Sometimes I wish that the exaggerated relief maps were the geography irl. Tibetan Plateau with 90 degree slopes ending in the stratosphere would be butt fuck insane.
If you want to see something interesting, peep Papua down on the bottom right. Not many people realize how huge those mountains are.
I was once on a flight fro. Dubai to Beijing that flew over Afghanistan and the Tibetan plateau.
I never really understood how big the mountains were or how many there were. For ages we passed over really massive snow capped peaks.
Suddenly I understood why the Soviets struggled against the Mujahideen and why the Taliban were so hard to find . . .never mind fight.
Isn’t Siberia a part of Asia?
Many millions of years ago…
Asia: India, come over.
India: Can’t, chilling in the ocean by myself.
Asia: My parents aren’t home.
India: …
Where is 75% of Russia?
Is that big white hole in the upper part of the map (supposedly where Uzbekistan is located) the Aral sea?
On average, how high is the plateau? Looks relatively consistent across the whole of it, which I guess I exactly what a plateau is
Sees all of Turkey on map : tHat’s nOt AsIa
Edit: Where Russia
Whenever I see maps of ancients China, the border seemed to always stretch out into Xinjiang. now I can see that Xinjiang is the most accessible part for China to expand to in the first place.
It’s crazy how well-defined the borders of Iran are on this map
It’s also almost a complete dead zone for airplanes. The turbulence is awful, the wind chill can easily reach sustainable Temps to freeze jet fuel, and the average elevation is higher than a planes emergency cruising altitude. If you got in trouble in the plateau you’d be in a world of hurt.
May I ask what happened to Taiwan? I don’t think that’s the right shape even counting for the topography of (Taiwan)Central Mountains Range.
Exaggerated relief is exaggerated!
Wait what? I thought Japan was far more mountainous than that
The central part of Taiwan has some tall mountains, which changes the shape of the island on this map.
Iran is almost entirely mountains in this map!
I think this gives a good view of the the Dzungarian Gate as that deep V-shape in the last range of mountains north of the Taklamakan?
Tibetan Plateau is just Massif
Come on, it was right there.
