Travelling to Moscow. Tinder, vpn, cost of food?

Greetings my fellow comrades,

Going to visit the motherland, more specifically Moscow. Going for business but plan on doing some fishing as well(aka finding a wife).

Question

  1. Do foreign vpn services work in Russia? Work laptop requires one. How fast is the internet in hotels generally?

  2. Dating apps in russia? Any recommendations?
    Does tinder/bumble work there?

  3. Cost of food - fast food and restaurants?
I understand the closer you are to the city center, the fancier it is, and thus the more expensive it is. I won’t have time to do much touristy activities, going mostly for business. Will be staying closer to the outside of the second circle on the south side of the city.

Thank you

  1. Russia blocks public VPN servers. If it’s just your company server, then there should be no issues. Though, you might consult whatever your company allows working from Russia. The speed will depend on the hotel, but its price to quality Russia is extremely low, so it’s really hard to imagine a decent hotel saving money on that.

  2. No western dating app works in Russia. Russia has some of its own. VK dating or Twinby, I guess.

  3. It really depends on where are you going. The price of the restaurants vary drastically. The cheapest combo in Russian copy of McDonald’s is 364₽ ($4) as far as I can see. I’d think that spending more than $25 on a meal should be pretty hard, but maybe Moscow prices are way higher.

Adguard works flawlessly, any openvpn of wireguard servers will work good

  1. Depends on which vpn you use (which protocol)
  2. Bumble still works, but not very popular. Try to ‘vk dating’ but to be honest I don’t no how well it is.
  3. If we talk about business lunches it cost around 5-7$ as usual same thing with fast food. If we talk about restaurant it can be start around 10$ and more depends on luxury etc.

Some public vpn servers works fine, take some time to find them

  1. So best to create my own vpn server from home?

  2. Whats a reasonable tipping amount in Russia?

So if I choose to create my own vpn server at home, I should use that protocol only?

Xray is also quite stable

  1. Which one works?
If I create my own vpn server from home, does it matter which protocol i use?
  2. How about tipping? Whats a reasonable %?

How would I know without bieng present in Russia to test them out?

  1. It’s the best option. Use Wireguard, it’s way better than OpenVPN. But both work just fine.

  2. 10% is fine, but it’s not mandatory.

  1. Yes.

  2. We don’t have a tipping culture. I usually don’t leave tips at all, unless there is something out of ordinary that the server did.

any protocol will work fine. wireguard always worked better then others for me

  1. Hard to say, i’m not very good at it… i use free - planet vpn or psiphon or amnezia. My friend use outline with aws settings as i know
  2. Up to you… often 10% is ok

Well, you can’t. Just download some like VPN Proxy Master, it works, tested by myself.
