- Still have yet to provide ANY evidence that VPN’s are illegal
- The definition of totalitarianism is the government controls every aspect of people’s lives. You claim to have lived in China for 5 years. During that time was every aspect of your life controlled? Do you know what words mean? No foreigner living in China now or in the past I know would argue that China is a totalitarian state. People generally do what they want when they want to. No one controls what job or jobs people do, where they live, who they associate with. What do you mean by total control? It’s authoritarian, not totalitarian. If it fit the definition of a totalitarian state, wouldn’t they stop me from using a VPN? Wouldn’t they know about it?
1: I already responded to this with proof , go read back in the posts.
2: Are you perhaps misguided? Do you assume that individuals in a totalitarian state are constantly monitored? Are there any rights in China, considering the absence of a legal system that would safeguard you if the government decides to levy charges arbitrarily?
If it truly met the criteria of a totalitarian state, wouldn’t they prevent me from using a VPN? Wouldn’t they be aware of it?
This line of reasoning seems quite flawed, reminiscent of those who used to ride electric scooters without license plates or indulged in prohibited activities like drug use or visiting prostitutes in China. They all insisted, “Oh, they would stop me if it were such a big deal…” Yet, nothing happened for years until authorities prioritized the matter, leading to surprise hair checks, bar raids, and scooters being confiscated without warning.
Once again, I hope you realize the consequences when your behavior, akin to wumao tactics, fails to shield you. Don’t come complaining here later; I’ll be amused :D.
反贼得分三六九等,至少你这种是比较低级的,既没有转化他人的手段,也没有正常的逻辑水平,能吸引到的只有觉得这样很酷的小鬼和不明所以的外国人。

You didn’t post “proof” you posted an anecdote from an un-cited source. Show me the law. China has lots of laws on the books.

Your own definition of a totalitarian state is that people have NO FREEDOM to make choices. Every aspect of their life is controlled by the government. Every aspect. Where they work, where they go to school, where they live. That’s in YOUR cited definition. Your response to me asking if any of these things is true is to talk about selective enforcement of existing laws about….drum roll please….scooter registration (reasonable law that should and is enforce in most countries) drug use (highly illegal and selectively enforced) and prostitution (illegal and not enforced). So your argument is that China is totalitarian because they have laws about things that most countries do, but don’t ALWAYS enforce those laws? Address my contention, Ben Shapiro - Totalitarian means a government controls all aspects of your life. Does China do this? If so explain to me how without referencing laws that only a nutcase libertarian would argue against…
1: The source literally includes a picture of the official report you’ve now turned to, completely denying even the CCP their own reports/documents. Doubting much?
2: Not my definition, but the definition in the damn Oxford dictionary and the point, you buffoon, is that if they have the law in place, there is absolutely no reason for them not to use it. Seeing you using a VPN is breaking a law, which they have made pretty clear is not allowed.

You are earning your 50 cents, but damn, you embody the foreigner I absolutely despised in China. The one who completely ignores anything negative and will whataboutism every chance they get. You’re breaking the law; there is no discussion. And how you know you lost an argument and should say, “Oh, maybe I am a bit wumao and brainwashed and should admit I am wrong.”
You have started arguing against the definition of a word, which I just showed is not my interpretation but the definition as set by every dictionary. You’re an American; you’re supposed to know this kind of stuff. You embody the foreign wumao perfectly You don’t follow very clear laws in China, such as VPN, but expect you get to do it because you’re doing good for the country. Hypocrite, perhaps read Animal Farm; you definitely need it.

I just took a look at one comment you made. You are literally providing advice to another person on how to avoid the Chinese immigration policy, and look at this :).
. I have a friend who has been living in China for 10 years + on a tourist visa
