Using a VPN in China can actually be legal, but the requirements are so high

“China has freedom of speech and democracy. I challenge you to find me a passage in the constitution to show me it doesn’t” - You

In practice people get arrested for enabling tunneling through the GFW. Chinese law isn’t hard to understand, only Western idiots or intentional shills would confuse the reality of it.

Mostly yes. But I repeat all social media is possible most sites too, haven’t tried p0rn sites for obvious reasons and for wiki we had to sign an form that said we wouldn’t do weird shit

False hope or overly optimistic over something that isn’t true.

There’s a lot of douyin vid that oversell how strong the Chinese military is and that they are ahead of the US military and a lot of video about 美国很多枪非常危险

It doesn’t matter, it just tells a lot about the average population IQ

Because choosing your chromosomes is not a thing

Almost all commercially available VPN are not approved by the government which by default is illegal.

Your spreading misinformation.

https://cointelegraph.com/magazine/china-dev-fined-salary-vpn-10m-ecny-airdrop-asia-express/#:~:text=Chinese%20worker%20fined%20%24145K%20over%20VPN&text=Chinese%20law%20prohibits%20the%20use,for%20similar%20remote%2Dwork%20tasks.

Here is the actual report.

Now, write back: Hey, turns out I was wrong. Yes, it appears they do have this law, and they will use it when they see it as a good fit; the person got fined, not the company he was working for.

But if you use your VPN for Pornhub, nothing to worry.

https://www.scmp.com/abacus/tech/article/3095201/man-punished-using-vpn-scale-chinas-great-firewall-and-watch-porn

A man in southern China received administrative punishment after he bypassed the country’s strict internet censorship system to watch porn, state media reported on Wednesday.

Now, write back: Hey, turns out I was wrong YET again and turns out i was spreading misinformation also pornography is bannned.

Again… IT’S ILLEGAL AND YOU CAN GET ARRESTED, but like a lot of things in China, it simply isn’t enforced until the government decides it’s now a priority, and they will round all the people up.

Now stop spreading misinformation to people seeing it can get them into serious trouble if they take your factually incorrect information as the truth :).

You are making 0 sense.

Here you go …

A programmer in northern China has been ordered to pay more than 1m yuan to the authorities for using a virtual private network (VPN), in what is thought to be the most severe individual financial penalty ever issued for circumventing China’s “great firewall”.

The programmer, surnamed Ma, was issued with a penalty notice by the public security bureau of Chengde, a city in Hebei province, on 18 August. The notice said Ma had used “unauthorised channels” to connect to international networks to work for a Turkish company.

So yes it is illegal and falls under : unauthorised channels

So your comparing apple to oranges :).

Thanks for illustrating my point about most people on this sub. Nowhere in your above comment have you provided evidence that it’s illegal to USE a VPN. It’s illegal to operate a VPN - meaning it’s illegal to set up a VPN.

I’m pretty sure you don’t know the difference.

And…can you explain how China is totalitarian, because anyone who lives here knows they hardly exert “total control” over their people. :joy:.

If no one actually searched through my internet usage habits or looked to see if I have social media accounts on Facebook etc, that would sort of argue against a totalitarian state, would it not? Authoritarianism isn’t the same as totalitarian bro.

Are you suggesting China has a higher IQ than everyone else?

You are hopeless.

The definition in the dictionary is 100% clear.

Totalitarianism

the principles and practices of a political system in which there is only one party, which has complete power and control over the people

If you haven’t yet realized, they can pick you up and put you in jail without any charges. They can make them up, just like they have done so many times before (see the Michaels), and you have no way of defending yourself.

That is totalitarianism, and your denial that the CCP falls under the definition of totalitarianism says more about your refusal to accept even basic facts when it comes to China. This makes any discussion with you already useless since you can’t be reasoned with, and you don’t accept definitions or facts, a common trait in wumao.

Good luck with the propaganda. Don’t come crying on this sub when you get arrested or find out what happens when there is no rule of law.

Just show these posts to your immigration officer, and it will demonstrate that you will defend anything as long as the CCP wants it defended.

You got the hardest green card for a country that will use you as a bargaining chip when your country, which you have nothing to do with, is not doing what they desire.

I honestly can’t wait for the day when you say, “The Chinese state sucks. I got a green card, and they did X to me because I’m a foreigner.”

Thanks for illustrating my point about most people on this sub. Nowhere in your above comment have you provided evidence that it’s illegal to USE a VPN. It’s illegal to operate a VPN - meaning it’s illegal to set up a VPN.

And thank you for illustrating the sheer incompetence of wumao. Here you go.

The programmer, surnamed Ma, was issued with a penalty notice by the public security bureau of Chengde, a city in Hebei province, on 18 August. The notice said Ma had used “unauthorised channels” to connect to international networks to work for a Turkish company.

Do you currently use a preapproved Chinese VPN to connect? I doubt it c considering the CCP requires access.

It seems you are likely violating the law, and there is precedent for being charged for such offenses and otherwise they can just grab you on espionage seeing you used a VPN to talk to foreign forces.

Keep in MIND they don’t need to proof it seeing there is no rule of law so the judge will put his stamp.

This quote fits people like you perfectly who appear to believe they get special treatment because they are a foreigner.

“ All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

PS: If you have a green card, you know that in China, often things are not enforced even though they are illegal. But once the government decides to enforce it, they go all out. If you are going to deny that, then you are honestly completely oblivious, seeing it’s common knowledge even among Chinese.

No, I’m suggesting that on average, Americans (and with them any other nation where you can identify as anything else than male or female) are less intelligent than nations where that isn’t a thing.

Mental disability shouldn’t be normalised.

Let’s ask you one simple question - have you ever spent a day in China? It’s ok - we all know the answer. :joy:

For more than 5 years, kiddo :).

I commend your approach in attempting to critique individuals, even though your entire argument collapses when confronted with fundamental facts—a common strategy for someone who loses, as propaganda doesn’t align well with facts. If you’re currently in China and browsing Reddit, by the way, you are breaking the law  If you genuinely believe you’re special, head to the police station and showcase your defense of China and your loyalty – let’s see who might face deportation for breaking the law, even with a green card

Catch you in a couple of years when you come to realize that a green card doesn’t offer genuine protection, and, regardless of the numerous wumao comments you make, you’ll never truly be acknowledged as Chinese.

It’s interesting that all you’ve been able to do is repeatedly make the claim that VPN use (not running or setting up a VPN) is illegal.

Any time you actually want to address that contention….

Buddy, let’s refocus on the main point and my counterarguments, given that I’ve made it clear that:

1: Using a VPN can lead to legal consequences, as it is deemed unlawful.

2: China fits the definition of totalitarianism.

Now, lets see why I am interested in you using a vpn considering your claiming to be in China , where Reddit is prohibited for obvious reasons.

The only means of accessing it is through a VPN. However, I’ve just established that using a VPN, even for standard sites like GitHub, is against the law.

Unless you have a government-sanctioned VPN (which seems improbable given your foreign status), it appears quite ironic you are positing on here then. This irony is a common trait often associated with individuals known as “wumao.”

你可以不认同这些观点,但放弃讨论而变成纯粹的谩骂,只会弱化你的论证,不值得在你的thread下浪费时间。
