Hi there, I just installed Company Portal Intune on my iPhone this morning. Now I realise that the VPN indicator on the top left of my phone is always there, is this normal and is there a way to remove it?
Also, could someone kindly clarify if my company can see everything I do on my phone (browsing history, my personal emails, etc.) ?
Thanks!
The VPN connection may be MS Defender as it essentially proxies your internet through the app to check for malicious traffic. This usually can be turned off though.
It could also be a VPN profile too. If this is the case your traffic may be flowing through their data centers at which point DNS traffic is visible.
As for what your employer can see, it depends on if the device is marked as personal or corporate. Neither can see your sms, emails, browsing history, photos, etc. Devices marked as personal (default, you’ll get a notification if it changes) essentially can only enforce policies, install other apps, and not much else. But devices marked as corporate can indeed see installed apps.

Tell me you clicked through the setup without reading anything without telling me that you clicked through the setup without reading anything. It lays this out in plain text during the setup process.
Go into the Company Portal app and there is a tab that says what they can and can’t see. There is also this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/user-help/what-info-can-your-company-see-when-you-enroll-your-device-in-intune
Also, why don’t you simply ask your IT department?
Thanks for your answer! You’re right, it was on due to the Lookout Work app which apparently I can simply off it from my settings.
Turning it off may result in your device becoming non-compliant and lose access to corporate resources.
