New user here. Would a VPN trip up location-based security? For example, Google suddenly sees that an account previously in the US is suddenly logging in from Russia, and send a security alert? Or Paypal seeing a payment from another country, flags it as suspicious, and blocking the payment? If not, how do they get around it?
Yes, a VPN cause you to appear to be accessing a website from a different IP and therefore location.
No, there is no way to get around this. One of the main benefits of a VPN is that it changes your IP which is how they determine your location.
Also google and such will know which IPs are used by VPNs and pay extra attention to them.
If the provider is close enough to you it shouldn’t matter in most cases.
My main bank told me that VPN use might trigger their security alerts, unless I used 2FA on my account. I do use 2FA and VPN, and haven’t had a problem.
