Hello guys! So I’m planning to buy an android phone and a laptop in China since it’s cheaper there compared to my home country. But I’m thinking that it might be difficult to download a VPN and open my Google and Meta accounts in those devices. So do you have any ways in which you can get access to a VPN?
I heard Nord and Express suck, while Astrill, Mullvad, WannaFlix, AOX, and Gogojump are quite decent.
Any suggestions on how can we get VPN with devices bought directly in China?
You should first try installing Google Play Store manually but when I try to install it on my Samsung s24 ultra bought in China, it either fails or the app opens and crashes immediately. It can be hit or miss from my experience since my previous Samsung had no problems. If you can flash the firmware to another region, then that’s even better but you might also lose some Chinese support. On other phones, I couldn’t use the Chinese apps or had a bunch of warnings pop up every time from Tecent Security telling me that Google Play and other foreign apps are malicious and need to be uninstalled immediately for my own safety. lol
have a vpn on a laptop also before u come to china it make downloading this stuff easier.
If you buy a Chinese phone, you could sideload them or dropping the APK into the phone.
Just be careful because some Chinese phones block Google services and you’re unable to download. I believe xiaomi is a good brand to consider.
I have been using Astrill for 10+ years and never really had any issues. It’s the best VPN in China to use in my opinion.
FYI Laptops in China come with the Chinese version windows without an English language pack. You can ask the shop if they can install windows 11 pro for you or get one of the cheap license keys you see online
Thanks for the reply! By sideload, does it mean manually download it?
Also, I plan to buy the Vivo iQOO Neo S9+ pro. Any thoughts on that phone?
Thanks again.
Not sure. I bought my phone from Hong Kong and it came with a Chinese App Store plus Google services.
Eventually, I got frustrated with the lack of compatibility and got an iPhone.
Yes, manually download it from the source, but avoid Huawei as they don’t have the Google play services necessary, I use Xiaomi no problem. No issues at all for pc
