VPN Server Split Tunneling for Internet Access and Nas Volume access at the same time

I Have corrrectly set up a vpn Server thru l2tp to a remote nas. I confugured the Port forwarding on the Avm Firtzbox corretly. The Vpn connects properly, seems fine.

The problem is, that the Internet Connection is quite slow where the nas is connected.
So the idea was to set up a splut tunnel. But whenever i set at the adapter, to not choose the vpn for main traffic, i also lose connection to the nas volumes.

Can anyone help me with that?

I’ve got a split tunnel using OpenVPN that works perfectly. In my case, I use the tunnel for DNS filtering via PiHole for my mobile devices when I’m away from home, but I’m able to hit all the data on my NAS (and other resources on my LAN) too just fine (and no I’m not using Quickconnect). The only traffic that traverses the tunnel is DNS and anything to a LAN IP, and everything else goes straight out my mobile carrier network.

This doesn’t directly answer your question, but Tailscale is extremely easy to set up and use.

Man my router does this. I figured the NAS would be able to as well. Surprised it does not easily. After a quick search you should be able to do it by modifying the OpenVPN config file, was unable to find exact lines to modify though.

do you have any advise, how to set it up?

i also made a second connection throught open vpn, this one also connects, split tunnelling does not work

nice idea, but i build a network for 20 users. should be free…

I think I used this guide: OpenVPN Split Tunnel on Synology Diskstation | Trinkets, Odds, and Ends
