VPN to Block YouTube Ads

I have Nord and just followed these instructions. However lots of routers don’t support this kind of setup, so may not work. Other comments in the thread have conflicting results arounds just running the Nord app on the appleTV

I run NordVPN through the Apple TV app and I connect via Albania to watch YouTube. It works perfectly every single time.

I don’t understand. I pay for Youtube Premium and I don’t get any ads of any kind. Well, except for sponsored content where the ad is spoken in the video content. Is it only certain types of content that get midroll ads?

Only when I watch YouTube  But thank you Albania for not having a deal with youtube!

Do you turn vpn on every time you watch youtube? Is there any way to automate it for Youtube only?

Good to know. I had tried another VPN and it had no effect

Ok then just resign yourself to a losing battle when you could be doing anything productive with your time

I expect they’re talking about the “ads” that are baked into the video - the content creator taking a moment out from the presentation to talk to you about Kindle or whatever.

Oh me too only when I watch YouTube haha I have been there once though it was nice !

I have no idea about automation but it’s super quick to toggle it on and off. I personally turn it on every time I watch YouTube. I also use it sometimes for international libraries on stuff like Netflix and Disney+. I also use it to put myself in alternative locations for ESPN+ to circumvent blackouts. It’s very useful.

Yep the sponsors that take up 5 min on a 20 min clip
