Used to have Mullvad, but I’ve cancelled it since they stopped port-forwarding.
I’m looking for an alternative VPN that allow port-forwarding without too much headache. Was thinking of Proton VPN but then I learned that I’ll need to change the port every time I restart my computer.
I’ve always used pia, it supports port forwarding and I’ve seen people claim it changes ports everytime it reboots but I’ve had the same port for as long as three months at a time and the most frequent it’s changed on me would be maybe once a month. My server is set to reboot every day at 2am so it’s not logged out doesn’t reboot frequently.
It does change, it just does so very rarely in my experience.
I just got ProtonVPN and saw that the port changed every time you restart. They change because by default you connect to a different server each time. I then created a profile to connect to a specific server whenever it loads up so the port remains the same. I lied, the port just changed on me. Will double check to confirm. Also I think if you bind qbittorent to the VPN, port forwarding is just extra speeds. Without it, it was still plenty fast.
The port does indeed change every restart even when connecting to the same server. However there is a fork that somebody made that copies the port to qbitorrent whenever a server is changed in ProtonVPN. RedditGithub
