Waited Past Expiration and Got a Great Deal on a 2-Year Standard Tier

I was up for renewal and searching through people’s experiences on renewal, I found four really useful comments which I’ll share. Accessibility is dependent on the location.

Option 1: The MicroCenter Hack

Many Redditors mentioned a fantastic deal, a 3-year
subscription for $99.99 at MicroCenter. Although this deal is limited to in store purchases, it’s a steal at $2.75/month for 36 months.

Query: Has anyone who bought this found out whether the benefits align more with the Basic Tier or the Standard Tier?

Unfortunately, this wasn’t an option for me due to accessibility issues. However, if you or someone you know can visit a MicroCenter store, it’s worth considering.

Option 2: Contacting Customer Support

Another user suggested contacting NordVPN’s customer support directly to save time and get deals and codes, rather than searching for them yourself.

They managed to get a 2-year plan with 4 additional months for $80.92, which equates to $2.89/month.

I contacted support twice but was only offered a subpar deal: $84.02 for 25 months, or $3.36/month.

In comparison, using YouTube’s referral links brought the price down to $93.36 for 28 months, $3.33/month.

Option 3: Waiting past expiration date

A user shared their strategy of waiting a few days past their subscription expiration. They received an email offer for a 2-year plan at $2.89/month, just under $70 total.

This gave me the best possible deal for the Standard Tier in my location. After two days past my expiration, I received an email offering 25 months for $66.74, $2.67/month.

Option 4: Cashback Websites

Finally, region-specific cashback websites such as Rakuten or TopCashback can provide additional savings, although these may take some time to appear in your account.

Image 2/3: when I opened the email in Safari’s Private Tab, the final special price was $74.16 for a two-year plan ($3.09/month).

Image 1/3: when I switched to the regular tab to checkout, the price dropped to $66.74 for 25 months ($2.67/month).

I’m not sure why the price changed.

Wait until tax time each year, you can usually find tax software with 12 months of Nord for like $25 for both. You get a code for Nord that stacks on any existing subscription. I’ve done this the last few years. Basically free assuming you need the tax software.

Check out g2a.com and stack social, there are plans which are even cheaper. And if you buy through Nord, of course your billing adress is in the Cayman Islands, that’s why you pay 0% VAT

If you only need a VPN without extra protective features, you can use any YouTuber’s or website’s referral link to get NordVPN’s Basic Tier for $81.36 for 28 months (about $2.91/month). That’s $69.84 for 24 months.

Basic Tier does not include two protections available in the Standard Tier (though I found the ad protection useful for streaming anime, it doesn’t always work):

• Threat Protection Pro: Anti-malware and advanced browsing protection

• Threat Protection Pro: Ad and tracker blocker

You can also use cashback websites for additional savings.

I’ve always had to fight for the Rakuten cashback. It’s a real pain, and I wish they’d sort it out.

VAT and IP detected country probably (it’s funny that with NordVPN itself you can trick it into thinking you’re from some shithole where the price is lower and VAT is 0%).

You don’t need to ‘trick’ anything. Just pick a different country from the dropdown list. I do this every time. I also confirmed with support that they don’t record individuals and the associated country that they paid with.

Late answer, but its a legit website and if you use paypal you get buyer protection. Its cheaper there, because its a wholesaler thats it

You can pick the tax residention but I’m pretty sure the base price is based on one’s IP since was able to get a cheaper price from a Polish IP.
