been using the free version on my mobile for a while and decided to install it on my Mac but found foggy the fact that it required access to keychain, in addition on the keychain panel their certificate is marked as “not trusted”… any comments on this?
The message shown about the Proton VPN Root CA, when you are using the Proton VPN Mac application, is expected since the application is not downloaded directly from the AppStore. There’s nothing to worry about.
The certificate is only trusted for IP Security (IPSec) connections, therefore, it will show up as not trusted. If you check for the exact details in it, you will see that it is trusted for that specific option only.
Regarding the keychain access, this is for the neagent, which is needed below Mac OS 10.15
thanks for the clarification about the keychain access, my concern was the access to my personal keys store; in addition to your notes, also found out that it’s a common standard when installing vpn on macos
regarding the certificate couldn’t find in the details/trust tab the trustiness for IPSec, but prob I’m not looking properly
thanks for taking the time!
Do you have some screenshots of that?
