Your opinion on Proton Drive

Filen has Linux support and an actual Linux client… Win.

I dont like it, because it is unuseable…

Works fine for me, I use it mostly for file storage moved over from Dropbox last month

I wish there were an option to buy more storage space separately for your account.

But as far as Proton drive itself, this is the one service where I feel like they have a very, very, very, long way to go still.

Not sure how it can improve on a NAS.

Proton could crush it offering 3-5TB for a low price!! As a iPhone user, I’d back up all my photos videos iPhone data etc to Proton. Let’s make it happen

I generally get 2-3 times the upload speed on Proton Drive than I do on SpiderOak One. I would like to see the following features for macOS on Proton Drive: (1) True easy to set-up folder/file sync capability; (2) The capability to provide additional password protection to specific folders even when not sharing for additional security.

9 women will not give birth to a child in a month, but the proton management expects that one woman will give birth to 9 children in 9 months. I don’t plan to extend the unlimited option, I will stay with mail plus. Without Linux support, the drive is useless to me.

Lack of Linux support at all is horrendous for a user experience. Also their browser version has a lot of issues with bulk downloads. Can’t bulk upload or download on iOS, and some reported the same on Android. Image thumbnail data takes years to loads (hyperbole). You can’t view videos in it that are too large. UI wise they are lacking some features that other companies have. With everything loading slow, downloading slow, failed downloads, lack of support on all devices, it is honestly one of Proton’s weakest offerings I’ve experienced.

I am currently in the process of switching to another platform, and testing what the competition has, and so far everything I’ve tried has been a better experience. Tresorit has amazing Linux support as well as iOS. Icedrive seems like a good alternative to Proton Drive, which also has better support on iOS and Linux, as well as some extra UI features.

It’s good if you’re someone who has a Proton Unlimited plan and does small backups, but I’d never recommend buying it standalone.

Realize this is late to the “party” - but I’ve only been using it a few weeks.

I absolutely hate Proton Drive and want if off my computer. It is glitchy, complicated, can’t keep things in order, duplicates some entries, and doesn’t show others at all, even after syncing. It only syncs some files - not all. Things show locally - but not in the Cloud and vice-versa. It creates “new” computers and folders when I didn’t ask it to…? It’s just a mess.

All I want to do is to be able to store files in an external storage, keep the order I set them up in when they’re in Explorer and not sync folders/files if I don’t want it to. Drive doesn’t seem to be able to do any of these things.

Calling it a “beta” app is being highly generous and diplomatic. Searching now for the best way to get if off my machine…

Waiting make albumens on photo and share albumens (date, name etc)

At the moment I’m not liking it at all. Had high hopes, but since filling it during testing, then deleting to make room for next process, and hitting Refresh Drive, it still insists my drive is full - yet there’s only 585KB of data on there. This has also affected my Proton Mail which now says I have no more storage. It was fine till the above, but sticks at ‘full’ despite also deleting half my emails. I was about to sign up for Family Plan, but I’m very disillusioned.

It works great, better than Google Drive. I hope to God they don’t “improve it” like they did with Proton VPN on mobile.

My thread I posted previously pretty much still stands. Not much improvement since then. I switched from Dropbox > OneDrive > Proton.

Still not ready to make the switch. App is slow when I navigate, videos take longer than expected to load. But I’m hopeful they’ll get better

have you tried this? https://rclone.org/protondrive/

Fringe desktop platform tho. I love Linux but there is negligible $$$ in this.

Why is it unusable? I just tried uploading to PD using rclone today and its working great so far.

Its Photos mimics Google Photos, we can only change the photo names one by one, and manually.

I have the unlimited plan and migrated from macOS and wauw no proton drive client I tried install rclone with Proton did not work at all. I do not know what I am doing wrong. But I ended up buying a external SSD. And I canceled Filen plan and consider also downgrading Proton plan. Since I only use proton pass and mail. VPN on Linux is not for me I seriously do not like it, So I now use Mullvad and no longer use any cloud.
