Buffs coming to Paladin’s Seal of Martyrdom in this weeks hotfix

“We’ve added one more change to what’s coming tomorrow:

Paladin

The mana return of Seal of Martyrdom has been increased significantly.
As the phases have progressed the value and effectiveness of Shamanistic Rage has increased, mana has essentially become a negligible concern for many horde raids utilizing multiple shamans in phase 3. However, the mana return of Seal of Martyrdom has been comparatively quite modest since the launch of Season of Discovery.

We’ve decided to significantly buff the mana return of Seal of Martyrdom to bring it in line with the mana return of Shamanistic Rage. We recognize that the current phase has seen casters’ power progression fall behind that of melee specs, so we don’t want to further increase that divide at this time. We also don’t want to hinder raid groups who made progress in the raid last week with a nerf.

In general, we feel that mana as a resource should matter, and in the next patch, we’re going to evaluate and tune-down mana return mechanics as a whole to ensure that there is still gameplay around managing it.”

Mana management on a Lock to healers: Our mana, comrade

I know it’s looking a gift horse in the mouth but i would rather see them to kill the SoM meta rather than doubling down on it. Spamming exorcism isn’t fun, and now it’s basically mandatory for every pala spec, including holy

So I gotta get ACP or Sul’thraze and can’t do divine storm ever again, great.

Funny that a “buff to paladins” is literally just a buff to everyone else other than paladins and a nerf to paladins themselves

Mana would be a fun resource to manage if it meant dumping it when you wanted for massive damage and holding it for when you don’t for large highs and lows lows, and physical just has constant mid by comparison but that isn’t how things are designed

Casters are balanced around continually using damage spells, and physical DPS get to do just as much without that. The equivalent would be a ranged Hunter running out of arrows mid fight or a rogue’s weapons breaking and just boxing I feel

Don’t worry fam. Blizzard will find some way to fuck this up.

I’ll reserve judgment until I see the numbers. Shamans giving like 15-20x the mana atm.

“In general, we feel that mana as a resource should matter, and in the next patch, we’re going to evaluate and tune-down mana return mechanics as a whole to ensure that there is still gameplay around managing it.”

Worst strategy possible. Make your playerbase get used to mana not mattering only to then shut the door on them with a reality check next phase instead of just fixing it now.

If doing less damage is the only method of mana management then level 60 may just be less fun for mana reliant DPS. Healers have actual decisions to make that are interesting and meaningful. Why should a caster DPS go oom in a couple of minutes doing a fraction of some melee damage, and just lose the ability to play their class. If raid fights are long and dps consistently go oom that will be terribly unfun imo.

“We recognize that the current phase has seen casters’ power progression fall behind that of melee specs, so we don’t want to further increase that divide at this time.”

I wonder what metric they’re using to evaluate this? Could it be damage meters perhaps? I thought there was more to life than WCL damage meters? If it doesn’t matter, why even acknowledge this?

No plan to buff casters, just mentioning they want casters to worry about mana at 60. Not sure anyone finds worry about mana fun. There’s no decisions to make, it’s just wanding until you can play the game again.

Looks like we had a brief respite from world of meleecraft in p2, but out new melee overlords are here to stay

Holy shit, I really didnt see that coming!

  1. let us hit like a truck with our auto attack

  2. we lose only 1 stack of Reckoning per swing not all stacks.

  3. Repeat number 1.

RIP aspect of the viper.

As a passionate Shaman main, not a fan. Sham rage is busted, and the raid mana (possibly the grp mana too) should just be straight removed. Once that happens and after the Overcharge nerf, people will see the sorry state that 3/4 Shaman specs are in. Sham tanks have the worst single target dps with Casino mitigation, Ele dps is down in garbage tier with Spriest and Moonkin while having a controversial optimal playstyle, and Resto sham is the lowest HPS healer while having bad tools to do damage. I know people like to meme about the Devs favoring Shamans, but I think the case is actually that nobody on the team plays Shaman. That’s why Shamans have some of the best, and some of the worst runes in the game. I mean, what the hell are Burn and Ancestral Awakening?

Let’s see how it goes

We also don’t want to hinder raid groups who made progress in the raid last week with a nerf.

Honestly not a huge fan of buffing the crap out of SoM mana return just to match SR mana return, when SR mana return was clearly overturned.

If alliance raids were able to clear without shamanistic rage levels of mana return, I feel like horde raids would clear just fine even with a nerf to SR. Huge SoM mana buff feels like the wrong way to address this, even if temporarily.

It’s like they suddenly realized its a problem after seeing 3 Threads on Reddit over the Weekend.
