Is it worth getting ProtonMail + ProtonVPN package?

Just interested in the deal with the two. I use Mullvad now and love the pay as you go feature and the fact I can sign up without an email. Still wanted to know, since I use ProtonMail Plus now.

Just be aware that if you don’t pay on time for ProtonVPN they will deny access to your ProtonMail account.

Many people have complained about that in this subreddit.

I’ve been a paid user of Proton since it was a crowdfunded project, and I think the ProtonMail Plus package is a fantastic value for security-conscious users. If you consider that you’ll have unlimited usage of ProtonVPN and all its servers for multiple devices, and the extended features of ProtonMail, including more storage, higher daily message limits, private domain access, and access to ProtonCalendar and ProtonDrive, the $8/month price is a no-brainer.

I use mullvad + proton mail… I have no issue with this particular arrangement. Mullvad has servers in my city so I like that.

If you’re on Linux, you might prefer a WireGuard focused VPN. I hope Proton picks up WireGuard support.

I’m using both. Love both. Big fan of the recent Adblock they’ve added to their apps as well.

I think i had slightly better speeds with mullvad in comparison but both are pretty good. It’s been a few months since I took mullvad for a test drive so don’t remember specifically.

I moved from Mullvad to ProtonVPN to get that bundle discount. ProtonVPN is more user friendly honestly and I think it was a good decision. But liked mullvad and both were secure enough when I last checked.

+1 on Mullvad. I am also a long term Protonmail user. While proton VPN has some cool features, nothing beats the sheer simplicity & efficiency of numbered accounts and WireGuard !

At this point in time, Mullvad is better than Proton. And there is very little chance proton will catch up as they are very slow in shipping software. Not to mention the fact that Mullvad is focused on one thing and that’s VPN.

Happy with both. 200Mb/s on vpn.

Proton VPN is not good. I found it to have terrible speeds compared to Mullvad. So I just kept Mullvad in the end

I have both, but on two different accounts, with e mail being free and vpn being payed. I am very happy with the arangment…

Thank you for this info

To be fair, there is no reason why someone shouldn’t “pay on time” and expect their life to move on smoothly. If we don’t intend to pay, we should cancel that subscription and make alternate plans.

I have a lot of problems with ProntMail, but this isn’t one of them.

I use PM and PV both. I have a combined payment system. In fact, I still stick with PM because of the VPN. The country that I live in blocks most VPNs including the famous ExpressVPN which I used for years. But PV finds a way to work. Always! So I’d give it a big thumbs up.

What happens when you cancel your subscription?

Oof, I’m never touching Proton VPN then - I definitely don’t need a double point of failure like that in my life.

I think this response made my decision to go with both easier. Thanks :folded_hands: I signed up for both

Second this, I tried to switch from Mullvad to Proton VPN and the difference in service for me was nowhere close, Mullvad blew Proton VPN out of the water in terms of speed, reliability, and ease of use.

Yeah I love Mullvad ATM

Didn’t know about the new features. Thanks for that.

Speed are solid for me.
