I saw some discussions happening about the new NordVPN’s product Saily, so had to try it out for myself.
It was a great timing for me, because I’m traveling at the time, and I can say I was genuinely surprised – the plans are relatively cheap, and they are very convenient in terms of time and data size. I needed 20GB for around two weeks, and Saily plans are very flexible. You can check how it compares with other plans and providers here.
Some more information about it:
- It was very easy to install and use, and all the information is there on the app – from installing, switching between countries, to checking your remaining data.
- You can download Saily in over 160 countries.
- There are two different plans: for 7 and for 30 days. For 7 days, there’s 1GB of data, and for 30 days, you can choose between 3, 5, 10 and 20GB plans (I personally chose the 30 day option).
- The cost is around $2.49 for a 7-day supply of 1GB of data (depending on the country).
- They have this code “sailytrip” and it gives 15% discount to any plan (no matter you get 1GB or 20GB).
So far, I didn’t need it, but there’s also 24/7 customer support, which is very useful for such a product, especially while traveling.
If you are not aware of eSIMs, remember to check if your phone supports eSIM technology before purchasing, and after just download the app on either AppStore/Google Play. Everything else is explained in the app, very informative.
What are your thoughts on this? Anyone tried it already?
Ridiculously expensive. For example: 20GB for 30 days in Canada is $69.99. With Airalo or aloSIM, 20GB for 30 days is $49. With eSIM dot net, the Vodafone travel eSIM with 25GB for 30 days is $30.
Looks super generic. They’re just reselling their eSIMs and brand it as their own like all others. Disappointing.
24/7 customer support is my selling point. Last year, I landed in Switzerland during the night and my esim got completely frozen. I was using one of those small esim brands and their support messaged me back the next day. Pretty useless. Happy to try Saily on my next trip
Seems very good but high prices.
As many had already mentioned. Saily Esim prices are very expensive.
Thailand:
nomad esim $8 for unlimited high speed data and free local calls for 14 days
Saily Esim $8 for 3Gb for 30 days
And I bet there are many examples like that. The only country that I see that pricing is similar to other providers is Japan.
I found it to be expensive! Their 10GB USA is $24.99 LOL. I get 15 GB USA at $11.99 from MobiMatter
Good news just before my travel. I tried few other providers, and they had their pros and cons. Can’t wait to try Saily and compare my experience
I am very excited to try it!
Too soon to tell how it is but I think the product should be worth the money, having in mind it’s from the same people who made NordVPN
I think I’m gonna give it a try on my trip to Malta next month
I did hear about the Saily product being released a while ago, happy to see it’s out now.
Will have to try it and see how it compares to other eSIMs used before on my trips.
is it compatible with most of the smartphones?
I believe it is worth paying a higher price for a premium product with 24/7 customer support
The prices are cheaper for me in the EU than my regular internet provider. I will test it our if it works well when I travel to Slovenia this summer
It is a tad expensive, but seems to be very convenient
FWIW price does matter little if the product will provide me with inconvenience free experience. i’d absolutely hate to panic about finding a free wifi in a foreign country.
what IP adress do they provide while using them in europe? US IPs?
From their advertisement campaign I thought they were going to introduce something revolutionary but they are just reselling generic overpriced eSims. What a letdown.
Do they have regions? Like for Ubigi I can choose Europe (helpful if you plan to cross borders).
